We are still in the midst of the holiday season with plenty of parties to attend. Do you need a super quick and easy appetizer to make for your own party or to bring to a friends? How about the Ultimate Party Meatballs? Mom Central provided me the chance to participate in another great blog tour providing the sauce ingredients for me to try out the meatballs.
Ultimate Party Meatballs
The tour is from Heinz and Ocean Spray who have teamed up for one of the simplest recipes I’ve ever come across. I made the Ultimate Party Meatball recipe today to take down to my parents house to munch on for Christmas Day. All you need is a 16oz can of Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce, a 12oz bottle of Heinz Chili Sauce, and a 2lb bag of frozen, pre-cooked, meatballs. Throw everything in the slow cooker on high for about 4 hours. That’s it. After the 4 hours just turn it to the warm setting to keep them at the right temperature.

In the past I have made a very similar recipes, but instead of cranberry sauce I used grape jelly. I actually thought they may have tasted more alike, but I was surprised at how different they really were. The ones with grape jelly are much sweeter, the cranberry sauce is a touch sweet, but definitely more savory than anything and the sauce as a whole isn’t as strong as the grape jelly variety. Most of the folks at the Christmas party today have had the grape type so I was sure to ask if they had a preference. My mother-in-law prefers the cranberry variety, my husband prefers the grape variety, and most everyone else said they are both delicious, just different.

You can head over the UltimatePartyMeatballs.com for more great recipes, party ideas, and even a sweepstakes! One lucky winner will win $3,000 in gift cards to hold their own Ultimate Meatball Party, plus 20 winners will each get a new Crock-Pot. Enter before January 31 for your chance to win.

    Thanks I entered!!!!!!

These sound terrific; I can see why the cranberry sauce would give a different flavor. We’re soooo used to thinking that cranberry only goes with turkey!!

The grape jelly sounds interesting. I will have to try it. I usually use barbecue sauce and sometimes homemade meatballs. Thanks for the link for the sweepstakes. Been so busy with the holiday stuff I have gotten behind on everything online, including reading everybody’s blogs. Everybody has new and awesome things on their blogs. I have missed it. I just haven’t had the time.

This is so funny. When I was growing up, my mom regularly made meatballs and we all loved them! She always said she had a secret ingredient. Turns out, this is the recipe she has followed for more than 30 years. Who knew it was so easy! I always thought she was just an incredible cook to come up with something so delicious! Here it’s 3 ingredients. I still poke fun at her for her “secret” ingredient!

This sounds really good to me, I like the more savory flavors. This would be good for New Year’s and I like that it is SO easy.

Who’da thunk it? Cranberry sauce in meatballs. I love cranberry sauce in/on all kinds of things. This is for me.

My husband took a cranberry salad my mother had made and mixed it with lettuce and brie or for an unexpected and DELICIOUS salad.

I made these meatballs and was surprised at how good they tasted!

1st learned of this recipe w/grape jelly: Very sweet! Decided to tone it down by going for something w/ a little tang: apricot preserves. Better.
Then saw the cranberry jelly suggestion. Made for an easy way to use the cylinder of red leftover from T’Giv.

I entered the contest and tried the recipe for our New Year’s party. The guests loved it!
