Great Way to Clean Carpeted Cat Trees!

We were cleaning house this evening, getting ready for Thanksgiving, and even though the guests don’t come in the office generally we wanted to tidy a bit in here. Hubby has his fabulous Lowe’s shop vac (I’ve mentioned it before) that is wonderful and he was using it throughout the house and I asked if he could please do the cat tree in the office because it was covered in fur. It really was looking gross to be honest. Well, Hubby starts vacuuming it, but nothing happens. Hmmm, this is some really stuck on cat fur. Why do they put the kind of carpeting that holds fur the most on these things to start with?

Before – see all the dark fur?

I went to get the 2 other fur removing items we have. First was the Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair that I reviewed a while back. This product works great on the furniture, but not on the cat tree mostly because you didn’t have enough room to move it like you need to. Next was the 3M Fur Fighter Hair Remover, this actually worked, but because the sheets are disposable we would have gone thru a lot of them cleaning off the cat tree in its current state. Hubby decides to try a rubber squeegee he had and viola, the fur started moving! He is so smart – I love having him around. Now it took me a while to get it clean but it really works. Just use firm pressure and short strokes to pull the fur together and then pick it up and throw it away. I know there are a lot of other cat families around and I just wanted to share this nifty tip with all of you.

After – MUCH cleaner!

I use a wire cat brush to clean mine, takes off all the fur plus fluffs up the carpet!
