Just Say No To Toolbars!

Have you noticed how so many sites and programs now want you to add their toolbar to your computer? Just say no! Really, say no!

Ok, there are a few exceptions, and one or two might actually be very helpful, but for the most part these toolbars just eat up system resources and make your computer experience slower. They also can cause conflict with other programs, particularly if you have multiple toolbars going. I’ve noticed many of my friends and family have toolbars going when they ask for my help in speeding up their computers – this is the first lecture I give them.

Part of the problem also is that many are set by default to load when Windows loads. This means when you turn on your computer they load up right away – this is one of the things that makes it take so long to start your computer up.

Companies have gotten trickier about the toolbars these days also – not just small companies, but big companies even. You download one program and in all those install screens there is one that says install this toolbar too and it is already checked for you – not nice! Make sure you read those install screens and UNMARK those extra things!

Like I said, I know there are some helpful and useful ones, but really scrutinize the toolbars more closely before installing them. Be picky about it and only keep what is really helpful to you.

roboform toolbar and swagbucks only! Everywhere I go, they all want us to use their toobars! Can you imagine, we'd have so many toolbars there would be no viewing screen left! LOL

I agree with you, I have 1 that I use.

That's what was slowing up my mom and Grandpa's too. Swagbucks is a good one, but I could probably do without…

Yes, I have fallen into that trick a couple of times and some of them are a bear to actually remove completely. I do have my roboform and my Swagbucks ones loaded though and love them both.
