You all know that I had some problems with the battery life in my old Kodak camera, but I loved the pictures it took. It finally was beyond help. Now I have received a new Kodak EasyShare Z915 Digital Camera – in red I might add (my favorite color). I’m including a few photos in this post, but also most of the other pics over the past few weeks (including the Thanksgiving food) were from this camera also.

I’ve been using the Kodak EasyShare Z915 for several weeks now. The pictures are better than my old Kodak even, plus it has some extra features. Now I am in no way a great photographer, not even on the hobbyist level. I am just one of those folks who likes to take pictures and they are the average snapshots of families, events, and of course, pictures for my blog. If you are an everyday picture taker like me, this is a great choice of camera. The price is reasonable as well (it is selling for $179.95 right now on Kodak’s website).
- The camera has a nice solid feel to it. Some of the point-and-shoot cameras I have tried feel flimsy or cheap – this one does not.
- Clear 2.5″ viewing screen. This may not be the biggest you can get, but it really is more than enough and has a very sharp picture
- The Smart Capture setting detects the best camera settings for the environment you are shooting in. This is the setting I use most often – quick and easy.
- It has optical image stabilization – sounds complex, but it just means that it helps get a sharp picture even when you are a little shaky – my old camera did not have this and it really makes a HUGE difference
- This is a 10 MP camera – more than enough for an regular picture taker like me. You can easily make a nice print up to 30″x40″ with this.
- Face detection – this is a new setting for me – the camera automatically detects faces and automatically adjusts the settings.
- I haven’t tried this yet, but it has manual controls for exposure, shutter speeds, etc. so you can do some creative picture taking even. I remember a bit of these types of things from the photography class I took in high school so I may have to give this a try.
- A tiny bit on the heavy side – but this is a personal thing because several other people who I have shown the camera to thought it was light.
- The On/Off button is a tiny bit awkward to push. Not a deal breaker at all, but I just wish it were a bit easier to reach.

There are tons of features that I haven’t covered about this camera. You can read more about the Kodak EasyShare Z915 on the website. It does come with the software also, but I never use that with my cameras – I just pop out the memory card and insert it into my computer and/or printer to grab/print the photos. It does not come with an external memory card, so be sure to pick one of those up if you buy the camera. The cards are available everywhere these days and are very inexpensive (under $20 for a big one even).
If you have someone on your list asking for a point-and-shoot digital camera, the Kodak EasyShare Z915 is a great choice I think. Kodak, of course, has several other models of cameras in different price ranges and feature ranges available.
(in this case I received the camera)
