Motor Oil Matters & Gift Card Giveaway!

November 10, 2009

in robynsonlineworld

Motor Oil MattersHubby is a master automotive technician (the newer and more correct term for mechanic). He does all the oil changes in our own vehicles and I know from over the years to stop arguing with him about what oil to buy. To me, I thought oil was oil, but he always said that was not true. He has personally seen the difference on customer cars when they use cheap/inferior brands of oil.

There is a new site, MotorOilMatters.org, created by industry-leading brands Penzoil, Quaker State and Shell Rotella, where you can find key information on what type of oil to use in your engine that will help prolong the life and improve overall efficiency. So many of us are pinching pennies these days, but we need to be careful on where we can actually cut back. You might save a few bucks up front buying a cheaper oil, but in the end you may have more repair bills or have to replace a car even sooner. Newer cars are much more particular than the old ones – you really need to have oil that meets the manufacturer’s requirements for your vehicle.

Right now Penzoil has partnered with VH1 Save The Music Foundation through its Play The Music. Save The Music Campaign. Now through 12/6/09 anyone can receive up to 46 free music downloads and up to a $15 service certificate back by mail when they get their oil changed at participating Penzoil installers. Click here for more details and locations.

I learned that I drive very severely!

    What is considered severe driving?

Severe use typically includes stop-and-go driving, frequent high-speed driving and short trips.

Towing, operating in dusty conditions and operating in cold and hot weather are also typically considered severe service.

You should review the severe service definition in your owner’s manual to determine the proper oil drain interval.
