Necco Wafers Review
A few weeks ago there was an offer to try Necco Wafers. Now I have always heard of them, but I honestly didn't know what exactly this candy was like. The package showed up and I was surprised, I'm not sure what I expected, but that wasn't it. Inside the package were little rolls and each roll has several Necco Wafers. They kind of remind me of those conversation hearts we get at Valentine's Day, but they are a harder candy and not quite as chalky tasting. There are 7 different flavors, but I couldn't tell you exactly what they are - the purple colored ones are my favorite though.
Each roll is a serving and has 50 calories and no fat. They do have 13g of sugar under total carbohydrates. Necco Wafers are all natural - the ingredients are all common things and they use natural colors (red beet, purple cabbage, turmeric, caramel color, and paprika) - interesting! A great candy for the office to share with your co-workers in the candy dish for sure! More information at Necco.com

sounds interesting...wonder if you stop with one wrapper full?
When I was a kid, they were an everyday candy to buy, just like a Hershey bar is now. They came in rolls the same length as the tubes they put coins in now when they are in rolls. Maybe 4-5" long and they were stacked all in one roll, not in little packages like these. (These would be the size you'd give out at Halloween.) All the kids ate them and it was easy to share because there were so many in a roll. They didn't melt and they didn't break easily. Perfect!
When I was a young girl those long rolls of chocolate necco wafers were a favorite movie candy. As herblady mentions they came in rolls about the length of a coin roller.
You used to be able to get those chocolate ones at any movie theater counter. They had a great consistency. I haven't had one in years...I'd enjoy one right now!
Thanks for the reminder! I need to get this review done too!
I love Necco Wafers. They remind me of childhood.
