Monday Mentions – New Feature!

December 14, 2009

in robynsonlineworld

Each week I get a lot of emails from companies and PR folks who want me to share information with you all. Some of them make it to the blog, more do not. I thought I would try to keep track of quick blurbs about things and then each Monday I would do a new post called “Monday Mentions”. This feature will have info about giveaways from other places, links to new sites, deals from companies, community service info, new products, upcoming online events, etc. Just a little bit of everything. I hope you all enjoy it and please leave comments if you have any suggestions on how to make Monday Mentions better or any other thoughts.

  • Downloadable Games.
Do you have a Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii consoles or even iPhones and iPod Touch players that you might be getting gift cards of points for (it seems all the systems have their own store or point system). Here are some games you might want to consider purchasing with your gift card, there are all from ngmoco, Hudson Entertainment and D3Publisher.
    1. Touch Pet Dogs: In ngmoco’s Touch Pets Dogs for the iPhone and iPod touch, you’ll be able to adopt your own loveable, lively pup from one of seven popular breeds! The easy to use Touch Pets social network, integrated with Plus+, allows owners and dogs alike to build relationships with other players and their Touch Pets. Puppies’ social lives continue to evolve whether their owners are logged into the game or not, and the results are broadcast for the world to see on the integrated Touch Pets social network and Facebook. Touch Pets Dogs is free, but you can use Apple gift cards to purchase food bowls, which allow you to play longer.
    2. Eliminate: In ngmoco’s Eliminate for the iPhone and iPod touch, players take on the role of a futuristic weapons test combatant, operating in a top-secret experimental facility. Playable over 3G or Wi-Fi, Eliminate invites players to join ranked competitive games against other players in a variety of arenas. Eliminate is free-to-play – you can use gift cards to download powercells, which will lengthen gameplay.
    3. Military Madness: Nectaris: With up to four-person online or local multiplayer available in vs. or team battles, experts in Hudson Entertainment’s turn-based strategy game Military Madness experts can compete with each other across the world. The addition of the multiplayer-specific Commander unit allows players to customize their strategies before a battle by spending points to select abilities that improve the Commander unit itself, improve friendly units or disrupt enemy units. The game is available for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Arcade and $9.99 on the PlayStation Network.
    4. Diner Dash: (I reviewed this game recently) Diner Dash comes to life in 3D on next generation consoles thanks to Hudson Entertainment. Players have the option to take direct control of Flo as she runs around to seat patrons, take orders, deliver food, receive payment and bus tables as efficiently as possible within the time limit allowed. The game is available for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Arcade and $9.99 on the PlayStation Network.
    5. Out January 6th on XBLA and January 7th on PSN, Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond will satisfy post-holiday bloodlust and have gamers in stitches with Matt’s unapologetic parodies and one-liners that made him a gaming icon. With infinite replay value and local multiplayer, the game is a great value at $14.99 for XBLA and 1200 Microsoft Points for PSN. Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond is rated “M” (Mature – Blood and Gore, Strong Language, and Violence) by the ESRB.
