Is Santa bringing the kids a new computer or a gaming system? I’m sure they will be thrilled, but you know they are going to want to play with those new techy gifts NOW once they open though. The problem is that some things require some set up. If possible have “Santa” open the items up and get them ready to run, then they can be put back in the box and wrapped up.
This is especially true for computers. You need to get your parental control software installed, your anti-virus protection, and any other needed programs or settings loaded, changed, etc. When I bought Taylor’s last desktop computer a couple of years ago for his December birthday, while he was gone to Grandma’s I unpackaged everything and installed what needed to be done. I wrapped it all back up and then on his birthday as soon as he opened it he just had to plug it in and he could start using it right away.
If you are getting kids gaming consoles, make sure you set up the parental control settings with those as well. Many have settings for how much time they can be played per day, what types of game ratings can be played, and more. Plus, most of today’s systems have online capabilities. It is really important you check those settings as well and create whatever parental accounts you need.
I know so many of you are swamped with things right now, but taking the time to prepare your tech gifts ahead of time will save you a lot of time and whining as soon as the gifts are open!
