I love picking out greeting cards to send to friends and family, but with pinching pennies these days I haven’t done it as often as I would like. Long, long ago on my computer I had a program that I could make cards, banners, signs, etc. with. Of course, back then we all just had those dot matrix printers and honestly the print quality wasn’t so great. Well, now there is PrintMaster
2.0 with more features than I could imagine! This program can save you money while you have fun being creative.
When I was asked to review this program the first question was if it was compatible with Windows 7 since that is what I am running now. Yes, it is! The program works on both PCs and Macs even. One thing to note though, if you have an older PrintMaster projects you will not be able to open them with the new PrintMaster 2.0.
Installation took a few minutes, it’s a big program. Once it was up and running Taylor and I both
played around with it. You can see in my screen shot the main screen is in 3 areas – the far left is where you select what part you are working on, the middle is your workspace (this is a family newsletter template I found), and the right is the gallery of your own photos to drag and drop if you like. My favorite feature is the ability to drag and drop your own photographs into the project templates. The program automatically resizes the photos for you and fits them perfectly into the project you are working on. In the old days you had to resize everything manually and it got all skewed and was a mess – now it is so much easier. You can still manually resize things of course, but you don’t have to. I easily found a stock Christmas Card template and just used drag and drop to plop in that cute picture of Peaches from yesterday. Inside I put “Hoping you have a warm and cozy holiday season”. Maybe we will send this out from our pets to some of our families pets (we are all animal people). Taylor found a project to make super quick – a Best Dad sign (see teenagers still ha
ve a soft side). He customized it and added a picture of Hubby and printed it out to give him when he gets home from work tonight.
I love that regardless of your skill level, you can still get a lot out of PrintMaster 2.0. If you are new to working with this type of program you can use the predesigned templates and just change a few things to make wonderful items. As you get more comfortable you can change more and more on the template and get creative with it. If you are even more crafty and talented you can start projects from scratch and still quickly make fantastic items for yourself, friends, and family. If you are trying to save on the cost of holiday gifts this year you could buy PrintMaster 2.0 for yourself and use it to make gifts even, not to mention the ability to make your own holiday greeting cards to send out. I know you still need the paper and ink, but you can be creative and use less of both of those things as well. This would also make a fantastic gift for any of the creative folks on your holiday shopping list. Taylor and I have both always enjoyed using these types of programs and both would love receiving something like this as a gift. For under $40 for even the Platinum version I think it is a very reasonable gift.
