You all know I am an ambassador for Mom Sends the MSG to help remind all of us to keep our mind on the wheel when we are driving. This includes no texting. Mom Central members, like me, are spreading the word also about The Allstate Foundation’s “X the TXT: Thumbs Up for the Safest Holiday Ever” campaign. Everyone has something different that triggers a reaction inside of us – so along with Mom Sends the MSG the X the TXT is just another way to drive that message home!
Taylor just got his learner’s permit 10 days ago. We have talked about the dangers of texting and using his cell phone while driving for some time. I’m hopeful that these talks have made a positive impact on him. There have been studies that show that teens are particularly susceptible to dangerous distractions while driving, especially from using their cell phones (I really think this applies to everyone though). As parents, it is our responsibility to help teach our kids safe driving habits.
Right now, if you join the X the TXT cause on Facebook, you are pledging to not text and drive and helping to save lives. Get your teens on Facebook to join in! For each pledge (joining the cause) received, Allstate will donate $1 to NOYS for teen safe driving programs, up to $25,000. Please take a moment to go learn more about X the TXT and talk to your teenage drivers about the importance of not texting while they drive. No text is more important than their life!
*I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of The Allstate Foundation. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.*
