As much as I love the internet and sending emails, texts, tweets, and any other digital media, I still think greeting cards sent via snail mail are still very in.
There are obviously some people we all still know who haven’t jumped into “that new fangled world wide web thang“, we know snail mail cards are for them. Today I bought another greeting card for Grandpa and wrote a little note inside to drop in the mail tomorrow. Grandpa isn’t interested in learning about how to use a computer and that is ok. He has plenty of other things to keep him busy. The phone isn’t his favorite form of communication either, so I find greeting cards are a quick way for me to let him know I am thinking of him.
Then there are times when even my online friends need some snail mail I think. I find when someone is really struggling with things that, even though I can ask them online, sometimes a greeting card sent via snail mail just lets them know that I truly have been thinking about them and am sending lots of positive thoughts their way. Keep a stash of thinking of you, friendship, just because, get well soon, encouragement, etc. type of cards on hand at home. That way you don’t even have to think about running to the store to pick one up. Just get out your stash, pick an appropriate card, add a personal note, address, stamp, mail. That 10 minutes or so of your time can really lift someones spirits I think.
So who is the last person you sent a snail mail greeting card to?
