If not yourself, I bet you know someone who has a thyroid issue. In fact I’m positive you know someone because I have a thyroid issue! It seems this little gland, the thyroid gland, located in the middle of your lower neck, can cause all sorts of problems when it isn’t working properly. My doctor and I are working to get mine working better, but it’s a slow process.
As part of Global Influence I am sharing with you that January is National Thyroid Awareness Month. Something I learned just today is that there is a relationship between the thyroid and issues such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Ack! I honestly had no idea about that even though I take medication for my low thyroid levels – I think I will be reading up on this more so I can ask the doctor more questions on my next appointment. Some red flags for you to watch for and talk to your doctor about would be:
• sudden weight gain or increase in body fat
• inability to lose weight despite proper diet and exercise
• fatigue, insomnia or restless sleep, anxiety or panic attacks
• gas, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation
• chronic sinusitis or lingering infections

Their community offers a network of support plus information about fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and related disorders including those concerning the thyroid.
