I was thrilled when I was asked to review the new release, Soldier of Love, by Sade. Do you remember the song “Smooth Operator” and “No Ordinary Love”? That is Sade – such a mellow and smooth voice – unmistakable!
My promo copy of the CD arrived the other day and I popped it in right away. Taylor was here with me in the office and I thought for sure he wouldn’t like it, but I was wrong. At first he wasn’t sure, but the more he listened he thought it was nice and mellow and liked it. That kid surprises me constantly. Not that there isn’t anything to like in Sade’s first release in 10 years at all – it just isn’t what I thought he would like.
Generally when I hear music I first just hear the overall music part of it – that is where I am still at with this CD. I don’t really hear the words or story the first few times. That works out really great for Soldier of Love though because it is so mild and relaxing I think. Today especially I have had a really long day mentally and as I listen to the CD while I’m writing this I really am relaxing more. If I had to pick my favorite song on the CD it would be “Long Hard Road”. Maybe that is because of where I am right now LOL. There really are no bad songs on the album at all though.
Sade’s Soldier of Love dropped today so you can get it on Amazon.com, iTunes, or in stores right now. Well worth the money for sure.
