Did you know that March 4 is National Pound Cake Day? I have three days worth of yummy pound cake goodness to share with you all thanks to the folks at Sara Lee. Hubby was thrilled that I was working on this campaign because he is always asking me to pick up the Sara Lee frozen pound cakes at the store.
The first recipe are these fun fries and ketchup. I am thinking this would be really fun on April Fools Day for the younger kiddos! The original recipe is from Sara Lee, but I made it a little simpler and was quite happy with it. Try it either way you like.
- 1 Sara Lee Frozen Pound Cake
- 1 cup frozen raspberries, partially thawed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon (or so) of cold water
Cut the pound cake into thin fry sized strips. I left the brown edge on because I thought it made them look like natural cut fries more. Once your raspberries are partially thawed, blend them (I used a stick blender) with the sugar until not lumpy. I added about 1 tablespoon of cold water to help ease this along actually. The end result is a nice thick consistency, sort of like good ketchup. The color is a little pinkish, but if you wanted it more red just add some food coloring. Serve with your pound cake “fries”
