Your Last Supper?

This morning I was watching The Chew (a new talk show with a food theme) and the topic today was your last supper. All the hosts shared a recipe for something they would like as their last meal. While I love a lot of different things, I think comfort food would be what I would want to end with. For me, my very favorite comfort food is open faced roast beef with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots and fresh rolls. Oh and a decadent piece of my Uncle Gary’s fabulous cheesecake! Yum, yum, yum!

So if you had to pick your last supper, what would it be?whats for dinner

      What kind of pizza?

  • Shannon Sander

    Grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Awww, that is so nice and comforting! We have that on snowy days in the winter – it always warms us up!

Mine would be barbecue ribs and chicken with a side of potato salad, deviled eggs and cheesecake for dessert.

That sounds like a meal my husband would love

I remember in high school I found this topic fascinating, and there was a whole web site of death row inmates’ last meals. I’d want a cheese rizzuto and chicken with garlic green beans.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

I decided to search and found this blog which lists last meals of inmates http://deadmaneating.blogspot.com/ It hasn’t been updated for a long time, but you can still get the idea

I would pick lasagna (made with beef and sausage, lots of veggies and of course TONS of cheese!!), homemade meatballs, steamed broccoli and cauliflower with red peppers, and garlic cheese bread.  Gotta have an antipasto to start.  Dessert, cannolis and cheesecake.  Wine with dinner, coffee with dessert.

Heck, the meal alone would kill me. LOL

Ohhh – I’m coming to share with you!

      • simplydab

Come on over!  I think I’m doing a practice run tomorrow, I’ve literally been dreaming about this meal ever since I posted it!

  • tannawings

I don’t know what I would choose… I wouldnt want someone to mess it up if it was truly my last meal. If they could get my Moms recipe for chicken croquettes right that would be it!

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

That would stink to know it’s your last meal, here you would be thinking of a specific way the food should be and it arrives and it is wrong. ACK!

Wow. This is a tough question that I never really gave any thought to before. I’d probably like to have chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, corn, a roll, and a piece of rhubarb pie!

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

Ohhh I haven’t had chicken and dumplings in ages. My MIL makes them really great, but Hubby isn’t a fan so I’ve never made them myself.

  • Ravzie

Whatever would take the longest to make…..LOL

I like your choice.  I’ve always been an open faced beef or turkey sandwich with lots of taters and gravy gal.

But I think I’d have a carmelized pecan brie, the Pepper Beef Tenderloin they make at the Golden Dragon in Honolulu, and then an entire wedding cake with different flavor layers and raspberry frosting.

ROFL – I love “an Entire wedding cake” that is funny!

Obviously if it was my last meal, I wouldn’t have to worry about my allergy to gluten and casein.. so I would say.. Nice plate of Cheesy, Meaty, Lasagna with a side of garlic bread, and Cherry Cheesecake for dessert.  Oh yea.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

I love that you put CHERRY cheesecake – that is SO much better than strawberry that most places have on cheesecake

      • http://welcome2mydailylife.blogspot.com/ Linda M. Ramos

That’s one of the reasons I started making my own.. Cherry is soo much better.. :)

  • deadchristmastrees

wow this is an impossible question to answer!  Definitly something my mom makes….ill need to think about this question.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

You’re right, tough question. My food moods change regularly J

I think it might have to be Velveeta Mac & Cheese or Fettuccine Alfredo.  Both are favorites of mine!

  • slehan

I want lobster & crab & shrimp and all sorts of seafood. Actually I plan to eat all of those on my trip to Chile in 27 days.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

      I LOVE seafood!

If we are in the land of magic :)  I love a beef stew my late mother used to make. She always modified her recipes so much I have no idea how to recreate anything she make. She was an improve cook and I’m more of a baker because I need exact measurements.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

I’m a cook more than a baker – I throw in this and that J

  • terrik

Hmmm, this is really hard, I’ve been thinking about it for a few days since I first read the post.  First, and I don’t know how weird this is, but I think I’d rather make it myself than have anyone make it for me, unless it was famous chef.

I’d go with lots of fresh ingredients:

Mesclun Salad Mix with plenty of spinach and frisee, fresh garden heirloom tomatoes, yellow pear tomatoes, cucumbers, just a little bit of red cabbage, fresh ground black pepper, sea salt and drizzled with fresh, homemade Balsamic Vinaigrette.

Fresh homemade angel hair pasta, in a pomodoro sauce made with fresh garden tomatoes, red & green bell peppers, lots of freshly crushed garlic, with some fresh basil and a little mozzarella/provolone.

Just a little lime sorbet to cleanse the palate…

Then a nice cold, creamy cheesecake with a brown sugar, graham cracker, pecan and vanilla wafer crust,  topped with fresh whole blackberries, drizzled with a red raspberry/sugar/lemon reduction sauce and a nice, fresh, fat, perfectly ripe whole chocolate-dipped strawberry on the side.

I’m coming to eat my last meal with you!

  • nik

Oh I think it would definitely be a carb-fest! Pasta, home-baked garlic bread (with LOTS of garlic…who’s gonna care if I’m not breathing on them?), lots of veggies and fruits and really just a simple piece of homemade blueberry cornbread for dessert. I’d go out with a smile on my face.  :)

  • Ljatwood

That’s a tough question. I love food…I would definitely want some pizza with canadian bacon & mushrooms on it. Lots of cheese and bread…and some of my aunt’s special chocolate pudding dessert. YUM.

  • http://www.melisasource.com/ MELISASource

My last supper would definitely be my homemade lasagna!!  It’s my mother’s recipe that I tweaked a few things on. I absolutely love it!!

  • mbhunt

My last meal would be anything WHITE. Bread. Butter. Mashed Potatoes. White Cake. Chicken. Ice Cream. Sugar Cookie. Now THAT’S a dinner!

  • Tarri Christopher

Well, a little bit of a gloomy thought here. I suppose I would want comfort food also so I would want homemade macaroni and cheese w/sharp Tillamook cheddar, lots of garlic and portabello mushrooms, and lots(!!) of crispyness on top.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

OMG – that sounds SOOO good! I am not a huge mac & cheese fan regularly, but your version sounds fabulous!

  • http://zebastyandylan.blogspot.com/ Dana Valle

I think I would want a really big boneless ribeye..burnt…I like my meat well done…not sure why..but I always have, with Mashed potatoes and gravy,  a few of my grandmother’s rolls, and butter beans..with lots of butter….real butter!!!!

My last supper would have to be my homemade lasagna which is based on the recipe my mom used to make when I was a kid.  mmmm  Want it now!
