Slow Cooker Recipes for Easier Thanksgiving and Giveaway

You know there never seems to be enough burners on the stovetop or room in the oven when you cook a big holiday meal like Thanksgiving. Because of that I like to utilize my slow cooker (Crockpot) when I can. Not only does it give me more cooking space, but slow cooker recipes are so easy that you can start them and just let them be for the most part. If you are short on counter space try plugging in your slow cookers in the garage, utility room, or other out of the way area. When it is time to eat just take your serving dish to the crockpot and transfer your item and take it to the table.

Hubby says corn is a must have item on Thanksgiving. His reasoning is that the Indians and Pilgrims had corn and so should we. I found this Green Giant recipe and it is the perfect fit – it is corn to satisfy Hubby, it cooks in the slow cooker, it feeds a crowd, and it is delicious! The second recipe is for a hot dip. While I know we have tons of food on the table during the Thanksgiving meal, it seems that everyone still wants things to munch on before and after the meal still. This recipe works well in a small slow cooker. Make sure you turn the setting down to warm only after it is done cooking so it doesn’t burn because of the cheese.

My favorite is sweet potatoes or yams.  My new addiction anytime of the year now!  I am going to try the spinach artichoke dip recipe!  Love Green Giant Steamers and boxed with sauce.  Yummy choices and the sauces get my daughter to eat a few veggies she usually wouldn’t.  Quick and easy.

I am going to try out a corn casserole recipe, and hope it turns out well. I would very much like to get into slow-cooker cookery, but was discouraged early-on by the fact that my mom received a Crock Pot for Christmas, from a sibling, waaaay back when it was the ‘new’ thing. The lid broke after its first washing, and no one ever gave it another try.
Anyhoo, I think corn is my fave vegetable for Thanksgiving.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

I think it’s very uncommon for the lids to break that easily. We’ve had some in our family for over 20 years even!

always looking for slow cooker recipes! Especially for such a busy cooking day! thanks!

Green beans are my fav thanksgiving veggie but broccoli is my fav anytime veggie!  Speaking of slow cookers, one of the larger recipes sites is giving out downloadable slow cooker cookbooks based on your preferences.  I wish I could remember which one…  i think its recipes.com?  Ill look and let you know because its pretty neat.  I answered some questions and then the site tailored a cookbook to my taste (so basically all the recipes were for vegetarians).  Plus theres lists of the most loved slowcooker recipes and let me tell you, they sound AMAZING!

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

      I’m a broccoli fan too!

I like slow cooker items for when I know I have a really busy day – it lets us all eat on our own timetable but still have a nice, non-fast-food, meal.
