Make a greeting card using Paint – Tutorial Video

Make a greeting card using PaintMother’s Day is coming soon and everyone needs cards. While I love some of the great store bought cards out there, especially Hallmark’s hoops and yo-yo line, sometimes I like to make my own cards. My son always loved making cards on the computer too. While you can use a card-making program, you can also simply make a custom card in Paint. If you have a PC (computer running Windows) then Paint is installed already for you.

Microsoft has a video that walks you thru the process. Now I have to say that the video is very informative on how to do this, but it’s a little dull to listen to. It’s about 5 minutes, but worth the time to watch it all. The beginning they show you how to get the photo you want in, then add text. Next is how to use the shapes tool to draw little things like the cupcake you see on the example. After that is how to make it the right size and direction for printing so it is foldable. Of course, you don’t have to print it either, you can email it is a digital ecard if you like.

Do you make your own cards on your computer?

I made cards years ago with a card creator program.  They didn’t really look all that great, but it was nice to personalize.  This might be fun to try sometime.

I have never tried the Paint program to personalize anything before. Normally I used Paint Shop or Photoshop but have neither on this computer- time to get busy!

I love trying out (testing) software and have done so with Paint. It did a good job on my trying to (paint) a picture instead of photoshopping it! Zoom in really close to get the colour right.
