4 Delicious Salads with Tuna for Summer

bumble bee prime albacoreIn the summer when it is very hot we do not necessarily like to cook all that much inside. We are actually overdue for a new air conditioner for the house and so even turning on the stovetop can add unwanted extra heat to the house this time of year. The following are some of my favorites from Bumble Bee Foods that I will be making this summer on those hot days. If some of the ingredients need cooked a bit I do this all on one day and keep in the fridge.

While this are tuna salads – they are not the type where it is tuna mixed up with moist stuff. For these salads you actually want to buy the more premium Bumble Bee tunas available. Even though they all may come from a can (or pouch) there is a huge difference in texture and taste. My preference is the Bumble Bee Prime Fillet Very Low Sodium Solid White Albacore tuna in the gold cans.

Bumble Bee Tuna - Tuna Salad Rustico

Tuna Salad Rustico – This salad has asparagus which is a favorite of mine. You can steam it like the recipe calls for or grill it (my favorite way). I love that this has capers in it too (optional) since they give a nice tang to any dish I think.

Bumble Bee Tuna - Santa Fe Tuna Salad

Santa Fe Tuna Salad – This one is like a Mexican chopped salad with the taco seasonings, beans, and creamy dressing. While this recipe just says “ranch dressing”, there are some great no-fat or low-fat ranch dressing recipes out there to use.

Bumble Bee Tuna - Greek Tuna Salad

Greek Tuna Salad – I actually do not like olives all that much, but I love everything else in this salad so I will still make it. Hubby and son both love olives so I will just give my share to them.

Bumble Bee Tuna - Italian Tuna Salad

Italian Tuna Salad – This recipe calls for Bumble Bee Prime Fillet Tonno in Olive Oil Solid Light Tuna – this may be harder to find, but it is worth it. I’m not sure if I would like the canned white beans (I’m picky about bean textures), but I do love garbanzo beans (chickpeas) and might just use only those when I make this.

Do any of these sound good to you? Do you have your own salads that you put tuna on in the summer that you would like to share?

These all look great – tuna salad doesn’t always need mayo to taste good – though we make a tuna pasta salad that’s pretty decent.

I would love to try all of these!! :)

These tuna salads all look really colorful and fantastic.  I often dump a can of tuna into my standard salads, not so fancy or artsy looking creations…plain and simple !

I saw the photo of the Santa Fe Salad and thought it looked delicious. Now that I see the others, I’d like to try them all.

OK you made me hungry again…. the Santa Fe salad looks delicious! I love tuna of any kind but hubby just isn’t much into salads. His idea of what tune is good for are tuna fish sandwiches.

They all look really tasty, but I’m allergic to seafood :(  It’s such a shame too, my diet would be so much better and the hubster loves seafood.

I am actually only a teensy weensy fan of tuna.  I don’t eat fish, tuna is as far as I’ll go.  But I know how healthy it is, so I try to have it at least a couple times a month. And these recipes definitely give me a few options to turn tuna into something I can actually crave!  I think the Santa Fe Tuna Salad sounds really yummy!

The Tuna Salad Rustico looks amazing, my current tuna salad is very basic and consists of tuna, pasta, salad cream and chopped apples
