Food Media Forum Conference in St. Louis

in Food,St. Louis

Lately I have found myself not writing about food as much as I have in the past. I think I need a little inspiration and I think I have found it! I was thrilled to hear that Food Media Forum will be here in St. Louis on July 28 and July 29 and just bought my ticket to attend.

While there are going to be many there who really focus solely on food and cooking on their blogs and jobs I still know I will take away plenty from this great group of speakers and attendees. The sessions on food writing are particularly of interest to me. I read food blogs and just started literally drooling from reading their rich words about foods. This is an area I would love to improve for when I blog about food here.

There are still tickets available at just $100 – great conference price for 2 days! If you are already in the St. Louis area you can just drive to the venue daily and not have to worry about airfare or hotel even. I think this would be worth coming into town though also if you are a food blogger. Get all the details on St. Louis Food Media Forum and join me!

I will be looking forward to your post about the experience. I read a couple of food blogs too and some of the recipes have been excellent.

It’s interesting to me because food is an important part of daily life for everyone.  Look at how many twitter parties sidetrack or evolve into discussions about food!  I am interested in reading about food in general, whether it’s about growing food, food safety, food cost, recipes, preparation, plate presentation, healthy food, food scarcity…it’s this giant category and everyone has something to say.  Often I’d rather read about a regular person discovering something new instead of a food blogger writing about seasonal foods for the 15th time.

I am not in St. Louis, but I wish I could attend too! Instead I’ll have to experience it vicariously based on what you write about it. I agree that _good_ food writing is a pleasure to read. Saveur is one of my favorite magazines, because their writers really cover food and culture in depth.
I look forward to reading your foodie blog posts in the future!

oh, Robyn, I just commented last night about how much I enjoy your food (and drink) posts…it would definitely be worth $100 to me to attend (even though I’m not a blogger)!

It sounds as if this conference is a lot more affordable than Blogher Food.  It will be in Austin next year and I thought it might be worth going – but at $300 a ticket I better make sure it is worth it.  I love to eat, but not so sure about cooking.  Of course, I could talk about the food that I eat, no?

wonder how much free food you’d end up getting along with the ticket? $100 isn’t too bad of a price for a good conference

That is a great price for a conference ticket. I don’t blog about food much. Sometimes I wish I did, but then I’d have to learn to like cooking! :P

Thanks for sharing this, Robyn!  Looking forward to seeing you there!

You write some really nice posts about food- and goodness knows you take drool worthy pics. This would be fun to attend and I look forward to what you learn!

  • ewffan

I follow a couple of blogs that write about food.  You are so right, they just have a way of describing their food that makes you drool and want to make that recipe.

I love reading about food too! I hope you have fun while you’re there and learn a lot for when you start writing about food!

Robyn, hope you’re well!  This does look like a great conference – Lyndi (@nwaFoodie) and I were just checking it out!  :)

  • Shannon Whitfield

I’ve so enjoyed your food posts! Not to mention the drinks, great ideas and recipes! Keep them coming!!!

Do they make these forums pretty relevant for people who aren’t necessarily making food or the food industry their lives/jobs/careers? I’d love to go but I always feel as if it wouldn’t be relevant to me. I love food (duh) and it’d be awesome to hear what people in the media and food industry have to say, but I wouldn’t want to feel left out.
