Learning to fly…

I saw this on TV this morning and just loved it. Not because I am a big Dell fan, I am, but because of the story itself. This is how I would like to think I would have done things as a child had I had today’s technology then. Teaching children – and allowing them to learn – how to utilize different aspects of technology is crucial in our lives today. Let them learn to fly.

It is truly amazing how computers and the internet have changed our world. I love that I can reach our school’s library 24/7 to be able to do research so I can write papers and essays. This video is adorable.

    That is a cute commercial!
Now you can’t tell me you didn’t build/make wings? I know we did, a friend and I used to use these kite like contraptions and jump off a ledge at a sandpit that was close by our house for hours. You know, we didnt fly so much as tumble and make a lot of kites (we got good at that)

Such a cute ad for Dell! I plan to teach my son how to best utilize technology in his own life as he gets older so that he can do fun, imaginative things like this!

i dont know many kids these days with initiative like that, seems like most just use computers to play games thismomwins@gmail.com

I so agree!  I hear of people complaining about children needing the “core” studies – reading, writing and arithmetic – but our children need so much more today.  If you aren’t allowing them to utilize the technology out there, it’s a shame because technology isn’t going away!   seeryusfam@msn.com

I agree completely! I would have loved to have had technology available when I was young a million years ago. ;-) In particular, with the internet you can learn just about anything. I was a good student and spent at least 4 days a week at the library doing research. Now, my children can sit at a computer and find information on virtually any topic imaginable. In fact I do the same quite often. Just as anything positive though, people can use it in a bad way and that is the only downfall of technology, but over all I think it is an amazing thing to literally have at our fingertips!

Technology is wonderful but there needs to be a balance. Kids who sit on a couch all day playing games are not getting enough exercise. Get ‘em outside and have their time with technology be meaningful time.

The ad is pretty cute. A filmmaker is born!  But we, including me LOL, need to step away from computers. Kids need to get out any play more, didn’t hurt me!!!

When I first saw this ad, I loved it!  I wish I could be that tech savvy!  It is amazing what kids can do if they put their minds to it.

I really love the song used in this ad! (Be Brave by The Strange Boys)

I loved this commercial. What spoke to me was that she proved to someone that she could “fly” without being mean or rude, and the girl that was proven wrong didn’t take it poorly (seemingly, I know it’s just a commercial) and just kind of smiled and seemed to think it was cool. We need more commercials like this.
