Mom got an iPad

We had our family birthday get together the other day and Mom got herself a new toy. She bought an iPad and she loves it. I knew she would. Here she is using it to take a photo of Colby (my nephew) who was being totally cute, as usual.

Mom is going to be my iPad accessory tester too. Occasionally I get goodies for iPads but I do not use one myself (I have a different tablet), so she will be testing them out to put up reviews here on my blog. Cool!

Does your mom use technology? A smartphone, tablet, computer, etc.?

Oh I’m so happy for your mom! How exciting!
My mother has an iPad and and iPhone and goes to lessons for everything at the Apple store. She is way ahead of me!

good for her..my mom has turned into a computer junkie and loves craigslist

That is so cute, I wish my Mom was that good with technology

That is so cool! How great it is that your Mom is going to help you test accessories. My Mom bought a laptop late in life (I still don’t own one); unfortunately, she hasn’t been able to use it since April 18th (and I don’t think she’ll be able to use it again, sadly).
    Colby is a cutie!

My mother got email before I did in 1990 – and harassed me till I finally got an account.  She then learned how to create customized cards through a card program, learned how to use word processing software before me, and now at age 84 has a Kindle AND a Kindle Fire.  Yes, before me.

My mom has an older style cell phone one of my sons bought her to carry with her – she seldom uses it. I am likely the only one who calls her on it.  She gave one of my sisters her computer a few years ago – said she was too old to be messing around on them darn things! LOL No, my mom is definitely of the techie world! I would love an iPad myself, but not likely – not on my budget!

Your Mom is adorable and so is Colby I bet she is having a ball with the IPad. Nope, my Mom didn’t use technology- she passed away before it really got going. Cellphones at that time were the size of a boombox.

Awe, that’s so cute. My Mom is Internet-savvy, BUT she uses one finger to type really slow and she’s just now getting the hang out of using her phone (which is not a smartphone), but it was a milestone when she started sending texts. Maybe one day she’ll upgrade to an iPad or something – but it will take a lot of instruction on my brother’s part.

My mom does not even know how to turn on a computer, nor does she want to…  I am pretty sure she still has and uses and old manual typewriter.  It’s okay though, we love her anyway.  :)

Your pic is cute, kudos to your mom on her new purchase.  My husband has one and loves it!

My mom uses some technology. She has to use a computer at work and has a cell phone (though it’s not a smartphone). She recently borrowed my Kindle to read a couple books and now she wants her own.

Good for her, many older folks wouldn’t go for new technology like that. I wish I had one too. thismomwins@gmail.com

My mom passed away before this technology revolution started.  She would be lost in the woods if she had to deal with what is happening now.  I was her TV remote!

I wish my dad would step into this century and get a computer or tablet, but he wants nothing to do with them. He calls me when he wants me to look something up.

My mom finally got a lap top last year. She still has a flip phone and swears she has no use for a smart phone.  the little calendar on her cell phone seems to keep her on track for all her appointments.  My dad has a nook to read books on but after seeing my ipad and kindle fire (hey I won them both, and my fiance has claimed the ipad as his) he totally wants either of them!

oh YAY i love iPads! I converted my mom to a macbook a couple years ago. She was very frustrated with her HP, but  scared to try the mac format. She caught on within a few days!! (dealbunny20 at gmail dot com)

Great.  Now your Mom is even technologically light years ahead of me!!!

And no – we were just proud when our Mom started texting us.  :)

I don’t know if my mom does or not.

But I think it’s so cute when I see grandmas taking pictures with their ipads.  I saw it a lot at the baseball games for little league this year.  :)

I told my mom if she does not want to be left behind, get a start on knowing what is a computer, how it works, how the keyboard feels and most of all start to use any programme. Now she loves to play tetris games and ocassionally I open MSWord and get her typing. The mouse at times still runs away from her :) just getting the hang of knowing where the cursor is and how to apply (little) pressure on the left-click – LOL.

Love it! How fun that mom will get to be a product reviewer for you too! I have yet to get an iPad but I hear they are great.

So much fun! Another gadget I want to get. alucky13 at hotmail dot com

Oh my goodness. My mom is not tech savvy in the least, bless her heart. I had to show her yesterday how to turn the volume up on her flip phone. She did just get Netflix, though, and is feeling very “with it..” I, of course, had to set it up for her though:)

My mom was just talking about one of these how wonderful it would be if i could give it to her.

My mom doesn’t use technology, not even a computer. She thinks she won’t be able to learn, but I’m thinking of getting her a laptop, because I think she would like enjoy getting to email and see pictures of her grandkids.

My Mom uses a Kindle, but it’s just the plain one – not a Fire. She just upgraded to a smartphone last year and is a quick learner, but she just uses the basic apps. She wants to learn more, I just don’t think she thinks about it as much as I do, nor does she rely on it like I do. I think she’d fare well with an iPad.
