I have been watching America’s Got Talent this season and I have to say that it is a really entertaining show. Unlike so many of the shows like this lately this show moves! There are not a ton of super long pauses and delays generally – they just keep things moving. Lots of action and energy and not a ton of the slow sappy stories either, just a little of that.
The beginning shows with the bad acts and the good were a great mix. I adore Nick Cannon as the host of the show. I have no idea how much of what he does is planned or improved, but he is wildly funny and talented. His friendliness to the people on stage is wonderful and I think he needs to get more credit for the success of the show.
The judges this year, Sharon Osbourne, Howard Stern, and Howie Mandel, are all celebrities I already liked. That makes it much easier to enjoy them on the show I think. When I first learned about Howard Stern years and years ago I thought he was just a pig – but I actually listened to his show for several years after that and was impressed. Now, I am in no way saying I like all the stuff on his show, but what I always liked was his ability to interview his guests and his honesty. He is bringing that same honesty, without being mean or nasty, to America’s Got Talent as a judge. I find Sharon Osbourne just a charming person and I love her accent. She seems like someone you could be friends with in real life (if I were that rich). Then we have Howie Mandel who I just find funny in a way that makes me giggle often – kind of like that goofy uncle in the family.
As much as I like the show though, I will not be calling in voting on the acts. For whatever reason I just am not into that. I have never been one to do that on any of the shows that have voting, the few that I watch. I will just continue to watch and hopefully the show will maintain the energy and speed it has had up to this point.
Are you watching? What do you think of the host, judges, and acts?
