Why I am loving America’s Got Talent

America's Got Talent with Nick Cannon, Sharon Osbourne, Howard Stern, and Howie Mandel

I have been watching America’s Got Talent this season and I have to say that it is a really entertaining show. Unlike so many of the shows like this lately this show moves! There are not a ton of super long pauses and delays generally – they just keep things moving. Lots of action and energy and not a ton of the slow sappy stories either, just a little of that.

The beginning shows with the bad acts and the good were a great mix. I adore Nick Cannon as the host of the show. I have no idea how much of what he does is planned or improved, but he is wildly funny and talented. His friendliness to the people on stage is wonderful and I think he needs to get more credit for the success of the show.

The judges this year, Sharon Osbourne, Howard Stern, and Howie Mandel, are all celebrities I already liked. That makes it much easier to enjoy them on the show I think. When I first learned about Howard Stern years and years ago I thought he was just a pig – but I actually listened to his show for several years after that and was impressed. Now, I am in no way saying I like all the stuff on his show, but what I always liked was his ability to interview his guests and his honesty. He is bringing that same honesty, without being mean or nasty, to America’s Got Talent as a judge. I find Sharon Osbourne just a charming person and I love her accent. She seems like someone you could be friends with in real life (if I were that rich). Then we have Howie Mandel who I just find funny in a way that makes me giggle often – kind of like that goofy uncle in the family.

As much as I like the show though, I will not be calling in voting on the acts. For whatever reason I just am not into that. I have never been one to do that on any of the shows that have voting, the few that I watch. I will just continue to watch and hopefully the show will maintain the energy and speed it has had up to this point.

Are you watching? What do you think of the host, judges, and acts?

I love America’s Got Talent!  Some of my old college friends are in the Top 48 this year!  They are the clogging group “All That!”

I’m like you, I don’t typically call in and cast votes for my favorites – on any shows actually.  I’ll have to make an exception this season though, I want to see my friends win!  :)

How fun that your friends are on! The cloggers are cool!

I, too, love America’s Got Talent because it has a variety of different talents.  We fell in love with Terry Fador when he was on there and have been following him ever since.  Whenever we can watch him on TV, we do.  He’s just so talented.  (He was the ventriliquist with the amazing singing voice!)  There are also other winners that we have really enjoyed too!  This year is interesting because there really is some great variety in talent and not so much in the singing category (which I find a little weak).  Carrie – the cloggers are fantastic btw!  :)  You have to wonder on some of the talents – How did they even come up with that???  :)   I usually don’t end up voting until towards the end of the competition when it really seems to matter the most.  I KNOW that is not true, because it matters all the way through to them but somehow in my mind, it matters more towards the end of the competition more LOL.  Somehow America does seem to get it mostly right until then.  :)  Occasionally they will send home somebody that I would have liked to see stay in the competition but generally they do get it pretty close to what I would have done or voted for myself.  Then towards the end, I put in my votes too.

I miss variety shows that I grew up with and you could see those interesting and unique acts!

I love love love Howard Stern because of exactly what you said, that is, the ability to bring out the honesty of every guest that he interviews on his show.  I am watching AGT as much as I can and so glad he joined as a judge. The show desperately needed him.

I loved the article! I love to watch Americas Got Talent and
I’ve done so for a few years. I’ve enjoyed having Howard Stern here this year
and I’ve loved his radio show for years. He always seems to push the envelope
at times and I love that. AGT’s one of the best shows my wife and I watch on
primetime. Now I can watch my show commercial free using my Auto Hop feature. I
know most of us already fast forward commercials, but now this feature does it
for you. The day after my PrimeTime Anytime shows air I can control my TV using
the option to watch or to skip commercials. I’m glad my coworker at Dish told
me about this great new feature. I’m going to be able to save some money on
batteries since I no longer need to use the fast forward button every ten
    minutes.
