Many of us really enjoy Pinterest. However, for every thing we love about Pinterest there are a few pet peeves people have about it also. Today I want to know your thoughts. What do you like most about Pinterest? Do you have a certain method to how you repin or like certain things? Do you have pet peeves about the way certain pins are done by others? Share your thoughts on anything Pinterest related.

Be sure to share your own Pinterest link also if you like. I would love to see what you are pinning. In case you are not already following me, I’m RobynsWorld on Pinterest too.

I love the beauty of Pinterest. I’m inspired by the recipes, crafts, gorgeous fashions, etc. I hate the fact that it has turned commercial. I have no interest in seeing a box of Tide or a tube of toothpaste pinned to Pinterest. To me, that’s not what it’s for. This is me
    http://pinterest.com/scentednights/ I already follow you :)

I don’t mind the products so much – as long as it is telling me something useful, but I hear what you are saying.

  • tannawings

I haven’t spent a whole lot of time on pinterest although I do like some of the recycling ( repurposing) ideas.

I’m always amazed at what some people can make out of what many of us might just throw away

I dont like how some photos make something look awesome when it really isnt if you try to replicate it at home thismomwins@gmail.com

LOL – I’ve had a few things not come out the way they look on Pinterest too. There is a site about it actually – can’t recall the name right now though.

I’m not on Pinterest often because for me it’s just another time-sucker when I’m online. If I allowed myself, I’m sure that I could spend hours pinning and repinning things that I’ll probably never do or use anyways. I’ve seen (and pinned) some amazing recipes but I know that I most likely will not be making them myself.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

It is so easy to get sucked into it for sure. I usually browse for a bit on my phone at night before I go to sleep to help limit my time. You should try some of the recipes you’ve pinned. I’ve made several things I’ve found on Pinterest that have been great!

  • terrik

My biggest pet peeve are pins that have broken links and lead to nowhere. I’m also frustrated (and maybe this is just my lack of experience) that it’s not possible to edit the order of my own pins on a board.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

I am totally with you Terri! That is a big pet peeve of mine too. I check the links to anything before I repin. No way that I know of to edit order of pins either, you can edit the order of your boards though.

Isn’t this timely…I have a pet peeve: I just tried to remove myself from a Board and couldn’t! Any suggestions?

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

It would not let you unfollow a board? I have not ever had that problem. Maybe it was just a hiccup at Pinterest. I would try again.

      • http://twitter.com/lexiquin Natalie V

Great advice–thanks! I was able to remove myself from the board today ;)

        • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

Wonderful! Glad you got it to work!

  • Kimberly

I like Pinterest overall. I don’t like that you can’t block certain people from following you, at least not yet. I’ve had a couple people follow me that don’t have objectionable things pinned but are spammers trying to get you to click on their link that has porn on it. I don’t know how to get them removed from following me.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

I think you will see blocking of pinners coming soon.

  • Kari

Overall, I love Pinterest. But, I do wish that you had the option of blocking someone (if you think they are spammy). And, I really wish you could choose to make some of your boards private.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

I think blocking is coming soon. Love the idea of private boards also!

I’m pretty sure a block option is on the way, I have had some crappy accounts follow me within the last week, there’s no block/report/spam button there – yet.

  • TheAngelForever

I think Pinterest is a great way to share ideas. Whether looking for a birthday party idea, trip suggestion, craft inspiration, or recipe to test – they catch your eye. What I am not a fan of are pins that do not link to a website about the picture. Those make me wonder if someone just snagged the image off of Google, or something else. Agree with others that it would be nice to block some if you want and sad that it’s getting so commercial.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

I don’t mind if there is no link if it really isn’t needed. Sometimes the image is all you need.

      • TheAngelForever

It helps a lot with crafting ;)

        • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

Agreed! Craft projects need step-by-step instructions!

I really enjoy pinterest as a way of keeping track of recipes, holiday ideas, themes and those always funny images we love to share.
What I dislike is that suddenly everyone wants to do a pinterest contest. I entered a couple and ya’ know, I don’t see myself entering anymore “pin to win” ordeals.

    • terrik

I’m still dipping my toes in the pinterest contests. I think I like doing the ones that are basically making a Pinterest wish list, like the current Pier 1. It was easy, just create a board with “Pier 1″ as part of the title and pin 10 items from Pier 1 website, fill out form & board URL. If they were all that easy I’d do more, but some of them get really complicated and I don’t know what I’m even doing most of the time on Pinterest. I’m hoping for more “wish lists” types with the holidays coming up.

Also, if anyone else is reading this, a tip from me for the above types of contests is to actually create the wish list on the site, then pin after you’re done. It’s almost impossible for me to organize on Pinterest because I have to think backwards with the first pin as the last shown.

I’m babbling, sorry, seems to be a problem for me today.

LOVE Pinterest but it is way to open–I would love to have the ability to make some of my boards private as well as limit the people that can see my entire profile. I do like the fact that the boards are very easy to organize so managing your profile when you have many boards with a very large amount of pins is a snap. That being said my house last year was absolutely beautiful thanks to some of the ideas I snagged from Pinterest so take the bad with the good I guess =)

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

I love that you were able to do things around the house with the ideas you found on Pinterest! I’m hoping to try out many of the decorations for the upcoming holidays this year

I love Pinterest. It has been a great way to have gluten/dairy free recipes in one area. The only pet peeve I have is when I come across a pin and it leads you to a spam site (happening alot lately) or the main page of a site and I have to scroll through to find the recipe. I try to check before I pin but I have been guilty of pinning quickly and not going back to make sure it’s legit. There are some that don’t need links, the picture says it all.

I love most things about Pinterest and don’t want to complain about a free site. I do have issues tagging people sometimes, and I wish you didn’t have to ‘follow all’ to be able to tag somebody. I would much rather follow individual boards of people. When I ‘follow all’ I inevitably end up having to unfollow a bunch of the new boards he/she has created, because they are not relevant to me.

I just joined Pinterest, and I’m just sort of exploring it now.. there’s so much there! I am especially interested in the recipes and crafting (knitting and the like.) It’s amazing, really.. I can see myself getting totally lost in it.. not sure I’ll be very productive today:) Since I’m new to it, it’s been nice to read the other comments here and know what to look out for..

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn’s Online World

It definitely can suck you in! Happy exploring!

I have a lot of clients that love using Pinterest, but most of those clients work in the fashion/art industry. I really hated it at first and have joined/deleted/rejoined a few different times just because I felt it was unnecessary. The more I used it for clients the more I liked it and saw the relevance for it (that is, for some things). I’ve actually been using it to curate my birthday/Christmas list and have suggested it to my younger family members and they really like it for list making.
