Windows 8 - My Start page day one

So today was the big launch of Windows 8. Did you install Windows 8 today? You all know that I did! Above is currently what my start screen looks like, but I have lots of playing around to do with my tiles to get them where I want them.

I have been running the pre-release on my #WindowsChampions laptop for a while, but with the full release today I put it on my Dell desktop computer. It is very simple and painless for any of you who want to upgrade.

Test your computer to make sure it is compatible with this easy Upgrade Assistant. If you are compatible you can just go from there to buy Windows 8 Pro for $39.95. That is for the download, if you want a physical DVD it is another $15. You can pay by credit card or PayPal (yay!). After the purchase it starts preparing and then installing. The entire process took me less than an hour earlier today with no problems. Even non-geeky people should be able to handle this install I think.

Once you have it installed make sure you click on the “Store” tile to find tons of apps (free and paid) for Windows 8. There is lots of customizing you can do with Windows 8 which is what I will be doing tonight.

I am happy to try to answer any questions about Windows 8 or at least point you in the right direction if I do not know the answer myself.

Disclosure: I am part of the #WindowsChampions team and receive certain perks from Microsoft as part of that team. Opinions are always my own.

The Ebay Daily Deal is “Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Upgrade-$59.99 after $10 coupon code”…but it looks like you found an even better deal! Thanks!

You really got a good deal. I was at the Apple Store in our area yesterday, and it was packed.

I was looking at it as I was checking out laptops for the hubby. He wants something light and smaller than his standard lappy. I liked some of the touch screen hybrid laptop-tablets I saw. One was Lenovo with Windows 8. Looked really cool with the layout you customize. I don’t think I will upgrade yet, as I have just figured out and gotten used to Vista. LOL

I am still going to wait… win7 isnt that old and is working fine. My problem really is just so much stuff just doesnt work right with the upgrades at least for a year or so. Call me wimpy but I am not sure I like the set up just yet.

:-( no…I wish that I had a brand new PC with it already installed on it. I am stuck with my Gateway from 2008 running on Vista…LOL…about winning that lotto…

I like the purple background – my favorite color. Are you still happy with it, Robyn?
