On all relatively recent Android based phones you can use live wallpapers. They are live because they move and/or are interactive in some way. A totally unnecessary function, but fun nonetheless. If you are worried about battery life though this will consume it quicker.
One of the first fun ones I have found for my Samsung Galaxy SIII is the Jelly Belly Jelly Beans Jar Live Wallpaper. It is free (yay, my favorite price). A simple install and you can start watching the jelly beans fill up the “jar” (screen). When you tap the screen to perform tasks more jelly beans fall in. If you tilt your phone the entire batch of jelly beans will move also. When you are ready for some new beans just give your phone or tablet a shake to empty the jar and start again. In the settings you can adjust the gravity affect and the background color. One of my favorite features is that you can pick your favorite flavors to be shown and keep those icky flavors out of your jar. Like I said, totally unnecessary, but still a lot of fun. A word of warning though, it will make you crave some actual Jelly Belly Jelly Beans – trust me!
Disclosure: None, just an app I found on my own that I liked and wanted to share.
