As a child we scoured those big thick catalogs and circled all the items we wished for to share with friends and family. We did this every year in November at our monthly family get together and I just loved it. Our family patterns changed over the years though and of course I don’t even know if they make those big catalogs any longer.
When my son was born and we got to his first holiday (well second really since he was born 2 weeks before Christmas) we started using a gift registry at Toys ‘R Us. Apparently not everyone did this, but my family seemed happy. Back then though (T is now 18) family could not look online at wish lists – you had to go to the store and have them print out the list. This was after we took T through the store as he picked out items he liked and tried to reign him in a bit. While the registry was great, things are much easier today with being able to use the internet and all of our family and friends having access to it also. Virtual Piggy is a fabulous new tool to facilitate all of this! You set up an account for each of your kids (grandkids, nieces, nephews) and they can easily add items to their wish list on Virtual Piggy by “Piggy Pinning” the items. It is just like when you add something to Pinterest – you have the button on your toolbar and when the kids see something they click that button and put in whatever info they want and save it. Presto! It is there on Virtual Piggy. It really is a very cool system they have in place and I think very easy to use.
Join me Thursday night at the #VirtualPiggy Twitter party to find out more about how everything works and what other great features Virtual Piggy has to offer. It will be fun and informative plus we have lots of prizes to give away! SECRET PARTY TIP: If you watch these two videos (video one – video two) and learn a bit about Virtual Piggy ahead of time you will have better chance of winning at the party! OK, it’s not a total secret since I just told everyone – but still not everyone will do it and you will have an advantage if you do!
