Holiday Wish Lists and the Virtual Piggy Twitter Party

Virtual PiggyAs a child we scoured those big thick catalogs and circled all the items we wished for to share with friends and family. We did this every year in November at our monthly family get together and I just loved it. Our family patterns changed over the years though and of course I don’t even know if they make those big catalogs any longer.

When my son was born and we got to his first holiday (well second really since he was born 2 weeks before Christmas) we started using a gift registry at Toys ‘R Us. Apparently not everyone did this, but my family seemed happy. Back then though (T is now 18) family could not look online at wish lists – you had to go to the store and have them print out the list. This was after we took T through the store as he picked out items he liked and tried to reign him in a bit. While the registry was great, things are much easier today with being able to use the internet and all of our family and friends having access to it also. Virtual Piggy is a fabulous new tool to facilitate all of this! You set up an account for each of your kids (grandkids, nieces, nephews) and they can easily add items to their wish list on Virtual Piggy by “Piggy Pinning” the items. It is just like when you add something to Pinterest – you have the button on your toolbar and when the kids see something they click that button and put in whatever info they want and save it. Presto! It is there on Virtual Piggy. It really is a very cool system they have in place and I think very easy to use.

Join me Thursday night at the #VirtualPiggy Twitter party to find out more about how everything works and what other great features Virtual Piggy has to offer. It will be fun and informative plus we have lots of prizes to give away! SECRET PARTY TIP: If you watch these two videos (video onevideo two) and learn a bit about Virtual Piggy ahead of time you will have better chance of winning at the party! OK, it’s not a total secret since I just told everyone – but still not everyone will do it and you will have an advantage if you do!

Virtual Piggy sounds like a good idea for tracking gifts. I’m not into Twitter, but good luck to everyone who attends the party!

Hi is there a tweet grid link? Will you please make one and post it here.

    • Robyn Wright

I just added a Tweetgrid link above in the post :-)

  • Terri K (@tkharmonic)

I’d love to go, but my son’s Christmas program is tonight so I can’t promise I’ll make it.

    • Robyn Wright

That Christmas program is far more important Terri! It is so cute watching the kiddos – have a wonderful evening!!!

  • angie

wow that is so cool! I totally remember getting the huge JC Penny Christmas catalog and doing the circle thing. LOL I didn’t even know they had registry for anything other than weddings and babies though! wild!

    Sounds great

  • Terri K (@tkharmonic)

I’ll be there, just got home a few minutes ago.

  • Meredith Elkin

I can’t for the party! I don’t usually attend twitter party, but this is totally relevant to me. Every holiday list app I’ve tried has been a flop. This service sounds way better than an app! I’ll see you there! @rockstarima

  • Ashley

I’m sad I missed this :( if I’d only known sooner

  • Julie

That was sooo me! As a child, I carried around magazines and the newsletters that came in the mail and circled all of the fabulous things that amused me. I’ve never heard of the virtual piggy before but it definitely could come in handy
