Hubby and I both needed car chargers that we could leave in our cars. He had one that had finally died and needed to replace. For me, I could buy a cable to use with the USB chargers I already have – that was my plan – but it was less expensive to buy the whole charger kit. We just find it more convenient to have multiple chargers and/or cables for our devices than having to take the chargers with us everywhere.
Hubby and I both got a Just Wireless brand kit. I have no problems with how they are working. However, they had multiple packages of these in the store for different brands of devices and one that said it was universal. Hubby and I looked very carefully at all of them and what we noticed was that almost all of them were the exact same chargers and plugs. You can see (and try) the plugs on the back of the package. Now I already know that most things are going to universal sizes these days so I was not surprised. What did surprise me thought was the $10 price difference on different packages! Yep, same stuff, same package design, but some were $25 and others only $15. This was at Target and I am not sure if the pricing is like this at all stores, but it was worth giving you all a heads up. Guess which ones we bought?
I currently use a Samsung phone primarily and Hubby has an HTC phone. Both of the Just Wireless chargers for those brands were $25. We instead got the exact same product, but just labeled for Motorola for $15. That was a savings of $20 total ($10 for each). Now, if you have an older phone or an iPhone you will need to be more specific, but for most smartphones these days the plugs are becoming universal. Regardless of the brand of charger you buy, look to see the other options available and see if you can save yourself a few dollars.
Disclosure: None. I bought these myself and am just passing along the info.
