infographics logoThis week’s infographic (I do them each Saturday now) is about hearing loss in musicians. Hubby has a considerable hearing loss in one of his ears (I still always forget which one). Part of this is from chronic ear infections when he was a child, but Hubby also grew up around loud music since his dad was a musician and Hubby himself played in bands as a teen. I thought this infographic was really interesting since it hits home for Hubby.

Thanks to Herzan for this great infographic. You can find the original and more information on hearing loss and prevention solutions on their site.

Do you know any musicians who are at risk for hearing loss or already suffer from it?

Disclosure: The infographic was provided by Herzan, but no compensation of any kind was provided. I found this interesting information and thought my readers would like it.

I don’t know any musicians who are at risk for hearing loss, but I am wondering if your husband was prone to ear infections when he was a child did he ever get an “inner tube” I think that’s what it’s called. Because my husbands brother was prone and got them all the time and he had to have surgery and my two youngest have had a lot of ear infections.

I don’t really know any musicians, but I certainly understand why this is such a common occurrence among people who are around loud noised.

I never had thought about it being a problem for musicians. My aunt has lost most of her hearing, due to working around loud machinery for many years (in the days before OSHA). My dad had a very severe hearing loss, but that went back to childhood.

My dad has hearing loss from his job as well, he worked at Anheuser-Busch. They had earplugs, but he didn’t wear them and they did not make them wear them back when he was there. I think they require it now. Subject: [robynsonlineworld] Re: Hearing Loss and Musicians [infographic]

Eh? What did you say? My music is in choruses so the levels are not loud enough to hurt us.

We have seen the effects of loud music hearing loss first hand. Awareness has caused us to protect , prevent & spread the word of what can happen

That’s a great infographic – with a vital message for musicians (& music-lovers!)

Thanks for sharing.
