Disclosure: I am a member of the Windows Champions and receive various perks as a member of that team. I also work with Verizon Wireless and receive perks from them as well, including this phone. Opinions are my own.
I am still loving my new Nokia Lumia 928 which runs on the Windows Phone 8 operating system. So many people are impressed with this phone when they get a chance to see it in person and I show them things it does. I really do think this OS will continue to grow and grow over the next few years. If you are already using a Windows 8 computer that you like then you will like the Windows Phone 8 as well, promise!
Here are a few more Windows Phone 8 apps I am using myself. I have a ton of them on my phone actually, but these are ones worth downloading for sure and that I actually use regularly.
This app lets you upload, view, etc. videos on the Vine service. Vine does not have an official app for Windows Phone 8, but 6sec will do the trick for you. Now, I do not do a ton on Vine, but what I have done via 6sec on Vine has been pretty easy to do and no major issues. Rudy Huyn is also working on his version of Instagram for Windows Phone 8 which I’m anxiously awaiting! And yes, I made a video of a toilet LOL
- Bing News
If you already use Bing News on your Windows 8 computer or tablet then you will be happy to know it is now available for Windows Phone 8 also. Easily follow stories, videos, and create your own categories of news.
- Cooking Timer
I know there are all sorts of apps for timing things, but I like this one simply because it is easy to use as timer or stopwatch and see 3 of them all at once. This means if you are cooking a meal with 3 different components you can keep track of the time for all of them on one single screen. A little on the ugly side, but hopefully they will improve that. Function is good though.
- Rest Area
If you are a road trip person or family this is a fantastic app. It will show map or list view of all the rest areas around you, tell you how many miles you are from it, give you directions and tell you if it does have or does not have restrooms, food, gas, handicap accessible, vending machines, picnic area, pet area, and RV friendly.
- STOP Music
One little annoying thing for me on the Windows Phone 8 is that when you are playing music there is no actual “stop” button. You can pause it, which does stop it, but then you have this bar at the top that shows it pauses. I’m not sure why they do it that way. Regardless, the STOP Music app you just tap and it clears that out easily for you.
- Windows Phone Insider
I’m not sure if I mentioned this before or not, but the Windows Phone Insider app is a nice place to find out what’s new, get some free ringtones, find new apps, and even learn some tips and tricks for the Windows Phone 8.
I would love to hear about which apps you are using and loving for Windows Phone 8!
