Achoo! Achoo! Achoo! I hear this a lot in my house. Poor Hubby suffers from allergies and asthma and all of that seems to leave him more susceptible to colds and flu too (not sure if that is true, but seems that way). I stock up on Kleenex (disclosure – this post is sponsored by Kleenex, but I really do use them) but Hubby does not always find the boxes. They seem to move around the house, maybe I should tape them down? Anyway, when he cannot find Kleenex I have seen him use a number of substitutions like paper towels, toilet paper, and ugh a man thing I guess – if it catches him off guard and he sneezes into his hand and – double ugh – wipes his hand on his pants. Again, this are just alternatives if he does not have a Kleenex handy. Don’t tell him I wrote about this here on my blog, mmmkay? Apparently he is not alone though. Ali Wentworth asked folks in Chicago what they use when they do not have a Kleenex too.
I cannot believe that one lady uses paper! That has got to hurt your nose – but you do what you gotta do I suppose. For me, I always have Kleenex with me because since my weight loss started my nose is always running. Sometimes with sneezes though they sneak up on me and as much as I am front of a computer screen you know that I am cleaning them often! Gross I know, but it is true.
Right now I am sitting in the airport writing this post and I always worry about colds and flu when I am traveling. This time of year even more so. I need to get my flu shot ASAP which will help hopefully. myachoo by Kleenex is a cool site though where I can see what areas of the country are getting hit by colds and flu.
You put in your city and myachoo will show you a map that is color coded to show where your risks are highest. It even predicts this out for up to 3 weeks. In addition to the map there is a Kleenex estimator – for my house it says we will use 10 boxes between fall and spring which sounds about right. There is a tip of the day also – today I learned that you are not supposed to use a humidifier when you are sick because it can actually spread germs. Who knew? There is also a coupon for Kleenex on the site.
How is the cold and flu forecast in your city according to myachoo?
