It is Friday and that means it is time for a cocktail! This week I am sharing one of my newest favorites. Jack’s Southern Honey (the picture above) is a cocktail served at O’Charley’s restaurant chain and it is quite tasty. So tasty that I needed to try to make this one at home too! Hubby actually called the restaurant and they said the ingredients were Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey, simple syrup, Sierra Mist, lemon, and mint. I gathered up the ingredients and toyed around with it and this is what I came up with.
- 1-2 parts Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey
Start with 1 part, but depending on your preference you might want to add more
- 2 parts Sierra Mist soda
I gave up soda last year, but I don’t count it in cocktails
- Juice from lemon wedge
- 3-4 fresh mint leaves
In a glass with ice add all ingredients, stir and gently mash the mint a bit. Enjoy!
Notice I did not include simple syrup. The menu at O’Charley’s doesn’t list simply syrup, but the bartender did. I tried making this with and without simple syrup and I really do not think it needs it. The sweetness from the whiskey and the soda is plenty – but if you like really sweet drinks then by all means add a bit. The squeeze of lemon juice and fresh mint are very important though and make the drink really stand out I think.
