Baby Crying Detector on Samsung Galaxy S5

Recently Verizon sent me a Samsung Galaxy S5 to try out. I know it would be amazing because I love all the other Samsung devices and products I have. But one particular thing just blew my mind. It has a baby crying detector!

What this function does is alerts you with a vibration and also a flash of the camera light if you like. This is not for lazy parents of course, but instead for those with hearing issues. The information states that it works best when placed within 1 meter of the baby with no background noise. It also gives a little disclaimer that this is not a substitution for human caretaking and that babies should not be left alone in buildings.

To access this feature and turn it on and make setting adjustments go to SETTINGS, then ACCESSIBILITY, then HEARING. The Baby crying detector is towards the bottom of the list. Tap on it to turn it on and adjust the settings as you like.

Really just a very cool extra feature that Samsung has included on the Galaxy S5 I think. While new parents have baby monitors in their home, this would be nice for when you are at other locations without your regular monitor I think. Another reason why Samsung is #TheNextBigThing!

What do you think about this feature?

It’s amazing how many different functions phones have these days. I’m not sure that would work better than a baby monitor, but I’m sure it’s been tested. Cool!

I think it is probably not meant to be a full time baby monitor, but when you are away from home or if you are babysitting it might be a good quick option.
