4 things you might not know to do do on Facebook |
Facebook is an every changing environment and I do not think anyone can ever know all of the things you can do, change, share, etc. on it. Today I thought I would share a few of the Facebook things that you might not know about.

  • Share That You Are an Organ Donor
When you are on your page on Facebook, instead of clicking “Status” to add something, click “Life Event”, and then “Health & Wellness”. In the next menu click “Organ Donor”. A box will pop up letting you add information you may want to include. Click Save. That’s it – the notification will now appear on your timeline.facebook organ donor

  • Groups: Open, Closed, Secret
There are three different types of groups on Facebook. What others can see depends on the group setting as shown in this chart. Be mindful if you below to a group to know its settings to know what non-members may be able to see.facebook groups listChart is from Facebook
  • Set a User Name for Custom Facebook Link
Simply visit and select the username you would like. This will create a custom Facebook link for you as well. You can do this with your own profile page as well as any Pages you administer.
  • See Your Facebook Year in Review
Want to see what the previous year looked for you? You can find your year in review anytime by visiting year in review

Did you learn any new things for Facebook? Do you have any other tidbits you would like to share with the rest of us?

thanks for the great tips. i did not know how to do some of this stuff.

    • Robyn Wright

      You’re welcome!

  • Angela Cash

Here’s one that will make you giggle: Change you Facebook language settings from English (US) to English (Pirate) –
    Settings –> General –> Language –> Edit
It doesn’t change the text that you input (status updates, etc.) but it does change everything else on your page and it’s pretty darn funny! :)

    • Robyn Wright

Great tip! I had totally forgotten about Pirate speak!!!

  • Adella Gonzalez

I didn’t know about that particular Life Event feature. Thank you for posting.

    • Robyn Wright

      You’re welcome Adella!

You are so smart! I love how you are always helping us. I didn’t know about the Life Event or how to set a Custom Facebook Link. Thanks!

    • Robyn Wright

      You’re welcome Tammy!

  • Andrea B.

Love the groups image, Robyn! I’ve already shared it a few times. Well done!

    • Robyn Wright

That is from Facebook themselves – but it really lays things out nicely!

  • Robin

You’re right; I did not know how to do any of these things. I have sort of given up on trying to figure out all the Facebook settings…but I appreciate your tutorials!

    • Robyn Wright

I resign myself to the fact that I can’t know everything about it – but there are some things I find useful to know and am happy to share.

I also didnt know any of them except about the hroups and the year in review. I dont know why you would need an organ donor part on facebook but it’s different!!

    • Robyn Wright

You don’t need the organ donor part on Facebook really BUT it is a way to draw attention to organ donation and it even will link you to how to register to be an organ donor if you are not. I have friends and family who have been organ recipients and so it is a cause that I feel strongly about.

The year in review was my favorite part! And now you can go in and edit those pictures as well!

  • Dawn Schamp-Monzu

I knew about the “groups”, but the other stuff is news to me! haha Thank you so much! I’m more of a FaceBook person, so this information is great for me. I will use it. This is why I read your posts! You teach me many things!

    • Robyn Wright

Thank you @dawnschampmonzu:disqus! I’m so glad you find useful information on my blog! That makes me happy!
