Birthday Card Blitz with Connections from Hallmark #ValueCards - Great idea to surprise someone with a mailbox full of love! #CollectiveBias #shop |

Mom, if you are reading this – STOP!   Everyone else – keep reading!

My mom is kind of tough to buy birthday gifts for. It is not about finding gifts, but it is finding things she has not already bought for herself and gifts that mean something to her. This year I have a creative card idea, the birthday card blitz!

Mom has always liked greeting cards, most of my family does actually. They are all great about sending cards for every holiday you can think of, birthday, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, etc. Plus they send other cards throughout the year as a thank you, get well, or just thinking of you. My Grandma and Grandpa Coomes loved getting cards in the mail too and I sent them often in the last few years of their lives. This love of greeting cards is apparently hereditary because I have it.

The Connections from Hallmark is a line of #ValueCards at Walmart for 47¢ and 97¢ each! #CollectiveBias #shop |

So at Walmart, in the card section, I spotted Connections from Hallmark, where there are, get this, cards for 47¢ and 97¢ each! Yes, you read that right! So I have seen value cards before and frankly they had been disappointing, but Hallmark is doing it right. These are all great cards, no duds!

This is a BIG selection of #ValueCards at Walmart #CollectiveBias #shop |

Another surprise was the amount and variety of value cards in the Connections from Hallmark line. I mean this is a big selection, don’t you think?

Don't forget to check the back of the card for the Connections from Hallmark logo! #ValueCards #CollectiveBias #shop |

All of these really are Hallmark cards – I love it! Mom will too. At the cost of just 47¢ and 97¢ for each card the idea popped into my head for the birthday card blitz. I can buy a ton of cards and send them to Mom all month long! There is no way she will be expecting this (unless she reads this post). Hubby and I looked through all the cards and started picking out ones that were just the right fit for Mom. Plus, we have other July birthdays so I picked up cards for those folks too.

Sort your cards in an order that makes sense to you and number them to know when to mail them

Look at all of these I got for Mom! It was under $15 for all of these cards, that is amazing to me because some cards can be really expensive.

I found a wide variety of both funny and sincere cards for her. Then I sorted them all out so that they kind of would be sent one funny, then one sweet, then back to funny, and so on all month long.

Write a personal note inside each card and sign it. Address them all and have stamps on hand. Then let the Birthday Card Blitz begin! #ValueCards #CollectiveBias #shop

Then I took the time to not just sign all the cards, but to also include a little personal note inside each one too. The notes are generally a comment about that card and how it fits Mom or it refers to a family joke or something clever like that. No long letters, just simply adding a bit of personalization to each card.

Other than the cards the only other supplies were an ink pen and a book of stamps – and love! So I have all the cards ready to go and I even numbered them so I know what order to send them out. They have already started being mailed since July is Mom’s birthday month. I really do think she will like this way more than any other little gift I would get her. She always says she doesn’t need anything, but who can’t use a little more love?

As a bonus, Hallmark has a rewards program that includes their #ValueCards! For every 5 cards you buy, you’ll earn a reward. Sweet! You can join the Hallmark Card Rewards Program for free.

Have you ever done something like this? Who would you consider doing a birthday card blitz for?

Love the idea…so perfect for parents who have all they want. I might do it for my dad next yr…and also include pictures of the grand kids.

I arranged for relatives to send my sister cards for her 40th birthday – they all had fun with it.

This is genius! I signed up for the rewards program in hopes of helping me make myself start buying and sending out cards again. I was always very good about it with birthdays and Christmas and then I just stopped for whatever reason, growing apart maybe. And this might make crazy trips to Wal-Mart fun! Happy Birthday to your mom! Michael’s birthday was June 3rd so I missed his month of birthday cards so maybe I can do love notes instead! This could work for all types of occasions! Thank you so much for this post!

This is a great idea and its nice to get ‘real’ mail! The art of actually sending a letter is dying and especially for older people its something they remember fondly. I have seen alot of nursing home residents get what they call ‘card showers’ for birthdays and they love it.

Fun idea! I bet your mom will love getting all those cards. I am a Hallmark Card Rewards program member and have earned some rewards (e.g. a $5 Starbucks gift card and a $5 Applebee’s gift card).

This is a fantastic idea! I know my mom would love getting a card everyday. I love the Hallmark Card Rewards Program. I have been a member for years. I love the extra coupons the also mail you.

Haven’t done this before…but it’s a very cute idea. I love getting things in the mail, and I bet most everyone does too! Hallmark makes the best cards!

That’s a pretty neat idea. I usually buy mine in big boxes because I send out so many all the time.
