July is National Ice Cream Month [infographic]

infographics logoJuly is National Ice Cream month. I say we all need to celebrate this with a scoop of your favorite flavor! This week’s infographic is “Stuff You Didn’t Know About Ice Cream” which includes the fact that the waffle cone was invented in my hometown of St. Louis in 1904. Yes, it says that some people dispute that fact, but being a St. Louisian I go with it being true. We are also home to toasted ravioli which is just as yummy as ice cream.

We tend to buy vanilla ice cream the most in our house because then you can top it with anything you like or add the ice cream as a topping to cobblers, pies, and all sorts of other yummy goodness. Hubby’s favorite ice cream is cookie dough though and he puts peanut butter and Hershey syrup on it.

What’s your favorite flavor? What are you favorite toppings? Are you a cup or a cone person?

LOL – what’s not to love, right?

  • Rust

Vanilla is my favorite too :)

I think vanilla is so perfect on its own or the fact that you can mix anything with it and it is even yummier!

I love mint chip, waffle cones dipped in chocolate then nuts sprinkled on is a bonus!

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn Wright

Ohhhh that waffle cone sounds delicious!

Sometimes I am in the mood for a cone, but I’ve been on a sundae kick lately with classic vanilla ice cream, Smuckers coconut chocolate topping, whipped cream, and maraschino cherries (with some of the juice).

Coconut chocolate topping? I had not heard of this – that sounds delicious!!!

      • http://artpark78.com/blog1 yonawilliams

Yes, Smuckers has a new quad of ice cream toppings now. I also tried the Salted Caramel one, but that’s nothing to really brag about.

Glad you told me about the salted caramel not being so hot because that is what I would have picked up first!

I loove waffle cones but dont usually het them because we het the frozen yogurt style through the drive throughs. I think my favorite flavor is probably vanilla.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn Wright

I like when I freeze yogurt like Yoplait to eat at home, but I never have been a fan of the frozen custard that is the soft serve kind at restaurants. Hubby loves it though.

I do like vanilla, BUT Breyer’s Waffle Cone wins my heart, but I’m not really a big ice cream eater. Living in the south I tend to prefer a popsicle to cool me down.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn Wright

You have to love a good popsicle!

Mint chocolate chip is my favorite flavor, and chocolate sprinkles are my favorite topping. I prefer a cup, but cones are good too (really, is ice cream ever bad!?)

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn Wright

LOL – no, ice cream is never really bad :-)

I could eat ice cream every day, which is why I don’t buy it. I love rocky road, butter pecan, mint chocolate chip, birthday cake…..the list goes on and on. I like to add rainbow sprinkles, caramel and whipped cream, and usually eat it in a bowl.

    • http://www.RobynsOnlineWorld.com/ Robyn Wright

I try to avoid buying it often as well for the same reason!

  • angelabailey

My favorite is butter pecan, which reminds me, I haven’t had one in a very long time. I’ll take it either way but it’s kinda nice in a cone.

  • coupontammy

I can’t believe Portland ate more ice cream then any other US city. But it is true we do have a lot of ice cream shops here in PDX. Almost as many as we do Starbucks! We tree huggers obviously love our coffee and our ice cream. Great infographic.
