Age Restrictions for Social Media Platforms Infographic

infographics logoAt the Type-A Conference last week my friend Linda Sellers told me about her (new to me) site, Tech Granny. What a brilliant idea! Her blog talks tech but to older, and wiser, folks like grandparents. We all know that kids are born into tech these days and it is second nature to them. Grandparents can learn from Linda about social networks, smartphones, and the like so that they can be more in touch with their grandchildren.

One of her posts included this great and simple infographic about age restrictions for social media platforms. If your grandkids are visiting and want to make a Facebook account should you let them? First, talk to the parents, but this chart gives you a handy reference of the ages, according to the TOS (terms of service) on each platform to help guide you as well. Thanks Linda for letting me share this with my readers!

Are you a grandparent who needs to become more tech savvy to relate to your grandkids? What do you think of the idea of Linda’s Tech Granny site?

I can’t believe LinkedIn is only 14. Seriously how many 14 year old’s have enough work experience that they need to network with others.

I’m surprised about the LinkedIn age as well. I have never used Vine, WeChat, Kik, Keek, Path, Reddit, Secret, Snapchat or Tinder, so I don’t know anything about those (yes, I’m out of it…). Thanks for the infographic!

What a great guide for parents (and grandparents!). Definitely pinning this one.
