Our Family of Smartphones #VZWBuzz

Everyone in our home uses a different smartphone. There are plenty of them too. I thought I would share which phones we all use and what each person likes about their phone. As you know, I am a Verizon #VZWBuzz Lifestyle Ambassador and I have gotten all of these phones from Verizon to try out. Even though I work with them, I am actually a paying customer for all of our accounts. I love the Verizon More Everything plan for our family, it saves us money being all on one account and we have lots of data to share!

Hubby: HTC One M8 Android

Hubby has been using the HTC One M8 for several weeks now and loves it. He is definitely an Android guy. One of his most common activities is Facebook, he loves commenting on everyone’s statuses and sharing his own updates. When driving he has a car dash mount in his truck so he can easily use navigation and traffic features. Did you know Hubby is a musician (hobbyist)? Well, he is and he loves listening to music with his phone. TuneIn Radio is what he uses while at work. PowerAmp is another favorite music app for him. Hubby watches lots of YouTube videos for music and everything else under the sun, right now he is actually watching dog training videos on it. Current favorite game is Five Nights at Freddy’s. The HTC One M8 is a great size for him and he loves that it has two front speakers that work well since he is nearly deaf in one ear. Hubby is an outdoorsy kind of guy and the HTC phones have always been pretty sturdy for him.

T: Samsung Galaxy S5

My son, T, is 20 years old and always has his phone with him. Shocker, right? He prefers Android devices as well and he usually “roots” his phones so he can customize it even more. I don’t necessarily recommend this but you know how well teenagers listen. T says the Samsung Galaxy S5 is very durable and he has dropped it lots of times and it is holding up well. He uses Facebook on his phone often to keep up with his car groups and friends. Spotify is his music app of choice and he says it is worth the $10 per month fee. He has always been into memes and uses Meme Generator Free to create his own. A while back we reviewed the Torque Pro App and T still uses that to diagnose trouble codes on cars and get statistics about performance. The one other thing he loves about his smartphone is how easy it is to send money via PayPal to someone – he is always doing some sort of deal with car parts and computers it seems.

Caitlan: Samsung Galaxy S4

Yes, this is how we see Caitlan (18) often, with our cat, Peaches, sitting on top of her. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is Caitlan’s first Android phone, she was always an iPhone user before this. She adapted pretty quickly to the new operating system though. The size of the S4 is much more pleasing than her old iPhone. The Google Play store was a nice change for her too because there are far more free apps than what she could find on iTunes, an important factor for teenagers on a budget! Games are a favorite pastime and Panda Pop is her current favorite. Caitlan and her friends use Snapchat and Facebook, a lot.

Robyn: Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Motorola Droid Turbo, and Nokia Lumia Icon

Now before you wonder why anyone needs three smartphones I will tell you that it is because of my work with Verizon that I have so many of them. I need to keep track of the latest devices and what they can do. Note that I do not have an iPhone though. I stopped using those a while back and have just never gone back. I focus on Windows Phones and Android phones now.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4
If I had to pick a favorite out of all of them, right now it is the Note 4. I adore the extra large screen and it just works so well. Samsung has a lot of great features built in as well and I use it with my Samsung Galaxy Gear 2. The Note series also has a stylus so I can take notes just like a pen and paper but on my phone!
  • Motorola Droid Turbo
This is my newest phone and I have to say I am pretty impressed with it so far. The hand gestures (not touching) work really well and the phone is very intuitive. This is my prettiest “naked” phone too with the gorgeous red color.
  • Nokia Lumia Icon (no longer available at Verizon stores)
This is my current Windows Phone and I adore it. It has, by far, the best smartphone camera I have ever used. Some of the pictures I take with it people think I took with my DSLR camera even. Since I am such a Windows fan (disclosure – I’m a Microsoft Blogger too) the Windows Phone operating system just flows so nicely with all of my computers and tablets.

There you have it! As you can see there are so many different types of phones and each have their benefits and everyone likes something a little different. I would not hesitate to recommend any of these to others for themselves or to give as gifts.

What kind of smartphone do you currently use and what do you do most with it?

I have the LG G2, I got it free from Verizon. It is an Android phone, and I always used iPhones! Like you said, I didn’t like the small screen the iPhone had…so my LG has a much bigger screen. I love it, and I even love the android operating system. I didn’t think I would be able to give up the iPhone….but I did! haha

I have the Samsung Note 4 and I honestly cannot stand it. I don’t know if it’s that I got it when it first came out and it just has so many glitches or if its the phone itself. It freezes about 30 times a day, not an exaggeration among many other issues. Ive done all the troubleshooting Ive been told to do and nothing works. I have even reset it to factory setting several times. I would love to try and HTC!
