Tech Gifts for Mom on Mother's Day

Not all moms want traditional flowers for Mother’s Day. There are lots of moms like me who love tech gifts more than anything else! Here are some of my favorite products and ideas from Microsoft to consider for your mom. Disclosure: I am part of the Microsoft Bloggers and receive perks for participating and I the links below are also affiliate links.

  • Surface Pro 3 Tablet
This is the tablet I actually use and I love it. If your mom needs a tablet that truly does replace a laptop, the Surface Pro 3 is the one to give her!

  • Surface 3 Tablet
For moms who do not need a tablet quite as robust as the Pro version, the new Surface 3 icon is an awesome device as well. If your mom is already a Windows PC user then a Windows tablet makes the most sense.

  • Microsoft Band
I have tried many wearables over the past few years and the Microsoft Band quickly became my favorite. Yes, it is an activity and fitness tracker, but I can also see and reply to texts, see incoming phone calls, get notifications from social networks, and more.

  • Microsoft Office 365
The Office suite of products has been the standard for many years. Now there is a new format, Microsoft Office 365 Home. I love this because you can access all of the programs on your computer while offline but you can also access them via the cloud from other devices and work online directly. I use this everyday myself for work and personal things. My own Mom uses this too for all of her personal needs and the work she does volunteering. There are multiple options for Office 365, pick what will work best for your mom.

  • Wedge Mouse
This tiny little mouse is perfect for tablet and laptop users who are on the go often. People ask me what this is all the time and are shocked when I tell them it is my mouse. Then I let them try it and they are totally impressed with the feel and function of this tiny little mouse. I actually love the Wedge Touch Mouse Surface Edition more than my regular mouse!

  • MakerBot 3D Replica Printer
I do not own this, but I sure wish I did and I’m sure if you have a super geeky mom she would totally freak out if you got this for her on Mother’s Day. Create and PRINT actual items with the MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printer – Fifth Generation!

  • Skype 12-Month Subscription
While you can use Skype for free, there are also various paid versions. I use this myself for phone calls to other land lines (among other things). We dropped our land line phone about 8 years ago and just have our cell phones. However, I love the convenience and quality of calls I can make via Skype and use this all day long! A perfect gift for your mom!

Do you think your mom, or you if you’re a mom, would like any of these cool tech gifts for Mother’s Day? Which ones?

I didn’t realize Skype had subscriptions. That’s a great idea; my mom does love to Skype with all her grand-kids & grand-nieces & grand-nephews!

Yes! Skype actually has quite a few different types of subscriptions. Lots of options based on your needs

These are all great ideas. I have the Microsoft Band and LOVE it! I love how it’s synced to my phone so I can see calls and text on my band. It’s the best band ever!

6 Robyn Wright May 7, 2015 at 6:12 pm

Yay! Glad you have the Microsoft Band @coupontammy:disqus – I agree, best band ever!

So many great gadgets out there, I’m interested in the Microsoft Band, I’m eating healthier and would love to keep track of my daily activities…I’m down 15+ lbs and I’m feeling great

It is true that not all Mom’s want tech gifts! I would love a really nice Surface 3 Tablet! I have heard how good these are,and I could take it everywhere with me! Maybe someday, I will get one. Also I need a Microsoft Home Office, can you believe I do not have this software on my computer.

12 Robyn Wright May 12, 2015 at 7:07 pm

Well I hope you got some tech for Mother’s Day! I’ll see what I can do about a Microsoft Office giveaway sometime soon too!

13 Diane May 8, 2015 at 8:51 am

I have been thinking of getting my mom a tablet, but she isn’t really good with her laptop so I don’t know if she could handle the Surface Pro, even if it is super cool!

14 Robyn Wright May 12, 2015 at 7:07 pm

Many people do better with a tablet than a full computer actually, especially older adults.

15 PinkLacedPoppy May 8, 2015 at 12:40 pm

@PinkLacedPoppy surface 3 would be amazing but I’m poor. However fantastic gift!

16 Robyn Wright May 12, 2015 at 7:08 pm

Well sending positive thoughts for you to get a Surface 3 soon!

17 PinkLacedPoppy May 12, 2015 at 7:10 pm

Hubby wants one! It would be cool for father’s day! I admit I’m not as much a techie but he definitely is

18 Robyn Wright May 12, 2015 at 7:14 pm

I’m going to have my hubby give me a tech wish list to post near Father’s Day. Should be interesting because he is less techy than me by a lot!

19 PinkLacedPoppy May 12, 2015 at 7:28 pm

Lol! Complete opposites then! I usually give my upgrades to him as well, off Verizon. So as a result we switch Sim cards every time! the things we do for love haha he used to be apple hardcore fan but I think since jobs died he’s been really getting into microsoft and Samsung market. Samsung did make a great move via the watch. I dumped iPhone in favor for galaxy but that’s as far advanced I’ve been since blackberry

The MakerBot 3D printer would be on my list! However, I think my mom would love Surface 3 tablet! These are great gift ideas thanks for sharing!

30 AngelaLilly May 13, 2015 at 2:51 pm

I WISH my mom would love any of these but I know she would be totally ticked off at me, if I bought her any of them. I try to tell her, and show her when she visits, all of the things that tech and the internet can provide and do for her but she just closes down and refuses to even consider it. It has actually been the cause of arguments between us. LOL

I wanted a fit bit but didn’t get one :/

The Microsoft Band seems to be a great gift. I love technology and this will keep me connected. I think I need this. Yes, need. It’s more than a want for me. I need new tech to keep me happy.
