Who doesn’t love tractors? PLUS Giveaway

in Reviews & Giveaways

What exactly is it about tractors that people love? I’m not exactly sure but I know Hubby loves them and all the little boys I know do too. Heck, girls and women also are tractor fans. There are books, songs, shows, collectors, toys, and tons of other tractor stuff out there.

Casey and Friends Book Series about Tractors

For all of the tractor lovers there is a new series of books, Casey and Friends, (disclosure: I was provided with products to review) which combines real life tractors and cartoons. Perfect for the younger crowd (4-8), but even the adult tractor fans will love reading and sharing these with the kids in their lives.

Big Tractors book

When my son was younger these were the types of books he really loved reading. There are lots of pictures of real tractors but they are combined with the fun cartoon characters, like Casey, who talk about how the tractors are really used, facts about the machines, and even how they actually work. This lets kids really learn about the topic but in a way that engages them without talking down to them. I also love that there is a glossary in the back of the book!

Glossary in Big Tractors book

The Casey and Friends series include….

  • A Year on the Farm (Jan. 2015) introduces children to the world of modern farming by teaching them about the different jobs a farmer does each season. Casey and her team show how tractors, combines and other equipment: plant and harvest crops, work in the farmyard, and care for animals. Learn how farming involves planning for the year, reacting to the weather, and working as a team.
  • Big Tractors (Apr. 2015) shows how the biggest, most powerful tractors handle the demanding jobs of pulling and powering on the farm. Find out how Big Red and Sammy – the biggest tractors on the farm – use their powerful muscles to work in the field with the rest of the team. Learn about the science of farming and discover how advanced technology makes Big Red and Sammy special.
  • Combines (June 2015) explains the step-by-step processes used to harvest crops by the most complex machines on the farm. Follow Cody and Kellie—the combines of Happy Skies Farm—as they do the work of three machines: gathering, separating, and unloading grain and corn.
  • Planters & Cultivators (Sept. 2015) features the specialized farm equipment used to cultivate, plant and spray crops. Learn how Tammi the Tiller, Evan the Early Riser Planter and Peter the Patriot Sprayer work together to make this year’s crop bigger than ever. Explore the science of soil and discover how Casey’s team keeps it healthy

The books are published by Octane Press. Each are 9×9 hardcover with 32 pages, printed in the USA. Retail price is $14.99 each.

I love tractors! Probably because I have fond memories of my Dad and his tractors. I’m hoping to win this for my grandsons ;)

Sorry to bother you with this, Robyn…but, after typing my details to complete my entry, the submit button was not active–therefore, I was unable to submit (and continue my entry) Advice, please? Thanks for your time.

What browser are you using? This widget is new for me so I’m still working out bugs here and there.

5 Natalie J. Vandenberghe May 15, 2015 at 8:03 pm

I’m using Chrome. The info fields are green after I enter my name and email; however, when I enter my date of birth, the box stays red. The “Save” button doesn’t activate, so I can’t submit. Within the last hour, I tried to enter a Gleam competition on the MomSpark blog and the same thing happened. So, I tried using Firefox, but was unsuccessful there, also. We just bought a refurbished computer (with Windows 8) about 3 weeks ago. I’ve had lots of problems (adjusting? learning curve?); however, I’m certain I’ve been able to enter giveaways during that time period. I appreciate your reply.

My uncle is BIG into tractors because he was a professional (is that the right word? LOL) farmer for most of his life. I would love to win this for my cousin’s son to have, because he spends a lot of time with my uncle and it is something that they could share together. :-D

9 Robyn Wright May 15, 2015 at 12:57 pm

Yes, I think professional farmer is a great term! My Grandpa was a farmer too :-)

I posted a photo on instagram but the # you want me to use is not working. I don’t think you can have # with a & in it. Anyway, because of this, your giveaway form is not allowing me to claim the entry. Here is a link to my Instagram post: https://instagram.com/p/2tW87VyytJ/ Can you please give me that entry?

11 Robyn Wright May 15, 2015 at 12:57 pm

Yes – I’ve got your entry. Thanks for letting me know about the problem. I’ve fixed it now. I’m still learning this widget for entries so anytime you find a glitch just give me a shout out.

12 AngelaLilly May 15, 2015 at 12:59 pm

YAY! No problem! Glad I could help and thank you! Now the form shows I still need to do that entry. What do I need to do? Is there a new # for me to add to my photo on Instagram? Thanks!!!!

13 Robyn Wright May 15, 2015 at 1:15 pm

Yes, try using #caseyandfriends now and then when you click on that entry it will pull up your photo. Click on the photo, then click submit/continue

29 steve June 3, 2015 at 8:30 pm

I love tractors too, although I don’t have one!

30 Monique July 25, 2015 at 12:23 pm

I grew up where John Deere is famous…Moline, Illinois. All I’ve seen was tractors. They are fun to ride on and fun to play with the toys. The winner of this giveaway will be lucky.

31 Robyn Wright May 15, 2015 at 1:24 pm

Happy dance! Do you like having the Instagram photo entry? This is the first time I’ve tried it, but it seems kind of cool I thought – but I need user/entrants input :-)

32 AngelaLilly May 15, 2015 at 1:38 pm

:-D I am at a 50/50 split on the photo. I was cool with this one because I just happened to have one on on hand that fit (which is odd to me…a city girl having a tractor pic in her computer! LOL). But, I am not really keen on having to CREATE new photo content to enter a contest. Does that make sense? If I have something on hand and can use it, great. If I am just reposting someone else’s pic, fine. If I have to take a new pic and upload it and all of that, I am too lazy for that, unless it is like worth a BUNCH of entries. LOL! OH and I will NOT go to the store and take photos for anyone. LOL And no selfies! LOL

33 Robyn Wright May 15, 2015 at 1:42 pm

I totally get that. I toyed with the idea of making the photo worth more than one entry actually. If I try this again I will do that. I would not make folks go take a pic at a store or anything for entry – I don’t like that either. :-)

34 AngelaLilly May 15, 2015 at 1:44 pm

:-D awesome. Thanks for asking, BTW. :-D Yeah, I belong to a lot of sites online like Crowdtap and they are always asking you to go to the store and snap a selfie with some product I would never buy. LOL I am like “skip!” every time that option comes up. LOL

35 Robyn Wright May 15, 2015 at 1:48 pm

I am the same way on Crowdtap!

36 AngelaLilly May 15, 2015 at 1:52 pm

LOL! My BIG thing is no selfies. They OWN those photos and can do WHATEVER they want with them and you get NOTHING, so uh…nope. LOL I don’t really do photos on there at all anymore and stopped doing a lot of the sample/shares because they just started to expect WAY too much for what they gave me. I just do the quick hits and some of the challenges for the most part now and am still winning each month so … :-D

37 AngelaLilly May 15, 2015 at 3:43 pm

BTW, I emailed you a few days ago regarding another giveaway and also PM you on FB. Just a FYI in case you have not gotten them for some reason. :-D Thanks!
