Samsung Smart Switch App

On Wednesday my latest smartphone arrived, thank you Verizon – as an ambassador for the #VZWBuzz Lifestyle Blogger team I received this device at no charge, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5! I’ve been using a Samsung Note 4 for a while now but it was super EZ PZ to switch over to the new phone using the Samsung Smart Switch App. Regardless of which new Samsung Galaxy phone you get, the Note 5, Galaxy S6, or even a Galaxy Tablet, you can easily use this app to transfer important information from your old smartphone (Android or iOS device) to your new phone.

Simply install Samsung Smart Switch on both the new Samsung device and your old device to get started. Open it up on both devices, and then follow the instructions on your new device to get things moving from the old phone to the new. I promise you that it really is easy, even for those of you who are not quite so geeky.

The app allows you to seamlessly transfers contacts, photos, music, videos, messages, notes, calendars and more to virtually any Samsung Galaxy device. The screen on the device will actually what items you want to transfer. Select your options and then let it go! Even though I have tons of stuff on my old phone it just took a couple of minutes of waiting for everything to be sent to my new Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It really is as easy as that!

Now, for your apps, simply log into your Google Play Store account (that it what the majority of people will use) and then press the 3 horizontal lines at the top left corner of the screen and select “My Apps”. There you can see what is installed on your current device and on the “ALL” tab you can see everything that was installed on other devices. This makes it easy to go thru the list and add those apps you already had on the old device onto your new device. Make sure you get all the updates for the apps you want on your new device as well.

The only other big step you have to do is add your “accounts” which you will find in settings for the most part, or for some apps, login to those individual apps when you first open them on the new device. Again, super easy!

The fun part is customizing your new device with whatever themes, wallpaper and lock screen images, and organizing your apps and widgets in a way that works for you.

My friend, Tommy, and I will be talking in more depth about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on our upcoming Blab if you would like to join us. There will also be more posts here on my blog about the new Note 5.

Questions? Just ask!

I love getting new phones – so lucky to be able to get them so much with my work.

Awesome! What is your favorite feature so far? Anything you are having trouble figuring out?

Looks like a great phone, I do like Samsung as a brand. I will try to tune into Blab for a more in-depth review.

You make it sound easy, but you’re a tech expert. I would probably need somebody to help me. My poor mother is always asking me for help with her smartphone, and I am useless!

I promise you that even non-tech experts can do switch easily with this app!

why do you prefer Samsung to apple?

10 Robyn Wright September 18, 2015 at 12:42 pm

I am not anti-Apple, they make good products too. I used an iPhone for a few years but switched to an Android because I wanted a larger screen. Now iPhone has larger screens but I’m sticking with Android and Windows still.

I really want the note 5! I could care less about the brand new iPhone haha

:-)

Do they come In colors too? I can’t remember. Rose gold is getting so popular. I like samsung simply because of the ease switching samsung devices plus it works well with HP plug ins and the TV :) I also like the way you can customize messaging. Weee! I’m sure the edge is great too but I like the pen feature on the notes. So quick to scribble out a grocery list. :)

The Note 5 comes in white, black or gold. I just made a grocery list last night using the S Pen :-)

Haha! I have done that too! Note 3 is awesome for the ability to do so that’s also why I want to stay w notes. It will be interesting to see if they do a note 6

I’ve been thinking about switching to a Samsung too. My best friend has an S6 and really likes it.

My friend @geekbabe aka Jean Parks just got the S6 Edge and she is loving it too!

I saw you and Jean singing the praises of this phone and I can tell it is something you both like and enjoy. I swear those phones just get smarter and smarter!

Yes, I’m using the new Note 5 and Jean is using the new Edge 6 – both fabulous Samsung Galaxy devices!
